This song began with Terry sharing an intriguing Eastern sounding synth and minimal beat with Ken, who added a really solid beat to bring out the strong rhythm of the song. Once they had a solid foundation and skeleton, they shared it with the rest of the Eclectic Collective. Josh added his five string fretless bass in a dubby line that was inspired by Tez's hot skank part.  Stephen came up with the shocking dynamic lift towards the end, and Tez piled on to light it up. Then MD got a hold of it and wrote and sang some of his trademark, fun lyrics and vocals in the first part of the song. Ken, not to be left out of the melodic experience, added the vocals at the end. 
  After we all had everything in the can, the Texas Tea combo of Stephen and Terry produced and mixed the whole thing down. This wasn't their first rodeo mixing a project together, and it really shows in the end quality. They also have several duo projects up on both of their pages that are worth checking out.  
  We think the end result is reminiscent of Massive Attack and Thievery Corporation, two big influences on a few of us. We all hope you enjoy listening to this song as much as we enjoyed creating it.

The Aniushka Variations is a musical celebration of a meaningful and happy life violently foreshortened by the incomprehensible savagery of the Holocaust. An experiment within an experiment whose origins lie in a six-minute orchestral score written by the Ukrainian composer Anton Dehtiariov, this distinctly idiosyncratic compilation, a serendipitous by-product of Dehtiariov’s magnum opus The Kaunas Requiem, is the end result of a brief burst of creativity in which a disparate collection of predominantly young and unconventional electronic musicians were each sent a pack of miscellaneous audio files including traditional Yiddish folk songs, Jewish-themed industrial field recordings and the original stem cells from Anton’s short score and given more or less the total freedom to interpret, remix and re-version the original composition as they wished. The Aniushka Variations is dedicated to Anna ‘Aniushka’ Varšavskienė (1896 – 1943), a former musician herself and one of over 200,000 Litvak men, women and children who vanished in the flames of the Holocaust in Lithuania during the Nazi occupation of the country between 1941 and 1944.

The Aniushka Variations was inspired by the miscellaneous women who’ve helped shape its creation, among them the late Masha Roskies, Aniushka’s half-sister who escaped Europe shortly before the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union and who was given safe refuge and a new life in the Canadian city of Montreal in 1940. Aniushka studied singing in Berlin in the early 1920s, a passion her large and by all accounts eccentric family appears to have shared to one degree or another. Listen hard to these recordings and you’ll hear Masha singing extracts from the traditional Yiddish songs of her youth, all of them captured on a hand-held tape recorder by her son David shortly before Masha’s death in 1999. This special CD opens with one of these songs and also includes two bonus tracks at the end in the form of short musical sketches composed, mixed and/or performed by Anton during the development stage of The Kaunas Requiem. The CD was funded by the Canadian Embassy in Vilnius and is being given away to friends and supporters of the International Centre for Litvak Photography in gratitude for their generous contributions, financial or otherwise, towards the ongoing creation of a more tolerant and diverse Lithuania.

I have been experimenting with sounds since I was really young , when I was about 6 or 7 years old, after lots of pleading, from me, I managed to get my hands on a very old reel to reel tape machine, that everyone thought I was too young to have, and I discovered and loved recording. 
I played guitar and wrote songs in a indie punky band ,toured, made albums and worked in Studios. Now I work from my home studio in SW Germany,  using synths, groove boxes, guitars and vocals to produce electronic music. I also produce images through photography and  make ceramic sculpture.
