John 00 Fleming recently curated a top 20 alternative Trance chart for 2024 on Beatport. He mentioned on his page that it would be great if someone did a mix of the tracks in the chart that he could broadcast on his radio show as his guest mix, and got an amazing response. 

He put his favourite mixes entered into a playlist on his Soundcloud page and then he selected my mix to be played in the last hour on his radio show! What an honour!

Right from when I first started playing many moons ago, J00F's publicly open philosophy on DJing has been a big influence in the way I think about playing and putting music together, and no matter what time I'm scheduled to DJ how to read and play to a crowd. 

While my usual selection of music is often quite different to J00F's style, his influence is firmly embedded in my DJing psyche, and it has been a great honour to have the opportunity to put together a mix of tracks selected by one of my biggest idols in the trance scene.

The first edition of JOOF radio is born, a new beginning in broadcasting with a fresh restart avoid of genre tagging allowing a DJ like me that’s know for playing longs sets breathe musically. Though I have this freedom in clubs, having a genre attached to my radio show always felt like a hinderance, especially as genres are always evolving into different places.

I’m really needing this again due to yet another challenging week in this world that we never want to see again in our lifetime. 
As usual I had no idea where this musical journey was heading and in the final hour you got some Turbo mix action. Unfortunately Facebook kickoff the stream on the final track, so things anded a little abruptly.

The DJ world has embraced live streaming in these uncertain times and there’s a lot of music to digest every week, so I want to mix things up a little and add some fun in-between my usual mixes. If I had to name one thing that I dislike when I’m playing, it would be requests. I don’t mean this in a rude way, I’m unfolding a musical story whilst also reading the crowd so my DJ gut instinct is telling me where and when the story should unfold, and requests usually don’t fit within my vision.
So as requests are a burden for me, I thought let’s turn that on its head and all I’ll did on this session is play requests! We have an amazing community of people that join these weekly sessions, they were in control of this one, threw the requests at me via the comments and I frantically tried to find them and put some form of mix together and have a mass laugh together…especially as you’re watching me panicking!

We ended up going full power Turbo.
