JOOF Sessions have now become our weekly online gathering to momentarily step away from the darkness in this strange world into the light to smile and dance together during these uncertain and challenging times. JOOF - The human jukebox.

The DJ world has embraced live streaming in these uncertain times and there’s a lot of music to digest every week, so I want to mix things up a little and add some fun in-between my usual mixes. If I had to name one thing that I dislike when I’m playing, it would be requests. I don’t mean this in a rude way, I’m unfolding a musical story whilst also reading the crowd so my DJ gut instinct is telling me where and when the story should unfold, and requests usually don’t fit within my vision.
So as requests are a burden for me, I thought let’s turn that on its head and all I’ll did on this session is play requests! We have an amazing community of people that join these weekly sessions, they were in control of this one, threw the requests at me via the comments and I frantically tried to find them and put some form of mix together and have a mass laugh together…especially as you’re watching me panicking!

We ended up going full power Turbo.

JOOF Sessions 006 - Ambient. 

As you know I’ve been trying to add different flavours to each weeks JOOF Sessions gatherings, this week we’re going to do something different and play an ambient set. For those who have experienced my open to close sets you’ll already know I open the evening with some ambient vibes, this not only creates anticipation for the night ahead but is also the roots of the DJ you know John 00 Fleming. Ambient music is the roots of how it all started for me and what got me fascinated with electronic music in the 80’s and still today influences the JOOF sound. 
These are tracks that I regularly play at home, full rich sounds, dreamy and hypnotic, they are very powerful and stimulate new parts of your mind. We’re all going through difficult times at the moment, though we’re getting stronger each week, we still have those bolt of lightening reality checks of the world situation. I want this session to put you in a different mindset to take you away from everything, to give us hope, happiness and appreciate everything around us. Music is a very powerful healing tool and something I turn to all the time. I’m going to leave the camera pointed down because being honest with you, many of these tracks bring me to tears, but in a good way. Many people are holding mass pressure on their shoulders at the moment and not released tears yet, I hope this offers a release for you, you’ll feel better after. 
 Keep this set for years to come, and it will make you smile. I’ll also make a Spotify playlist of this too after and keep adding to it.

Overall streaming traffic is down for everyone down due to the mass volume of streaming out there, and as I’m seeing personally traffic is rocketing on my podcasts and Soundcloud as its much easier for people to listen again in their own time. For as long as this world situation hangs around, I’ll keep doing these live sessions as I love the feeling of us all gathering together for that one united weekly intimate party, gives me a feeling of those small underground dark clubs that we like to party at together…and WILL again soon.

I promised to take you down the rabbit hole this week, plenty of deep dark pounding hypnotic moments. As you know I took a small step away from the Turbo side to let me rediscover something more fresh, original and forward thinking and you’re now starting to get a small taste of what’s coming and where I’m heading. There’s more work to be done, but that power side of me is itching to come out, but as and when it does, I want it to blow you away into the sonic future and experience something you’ve never heard or felt before. Thats always been the ethos behind what I do, the DJ you know, the JOOF sound. Without your trust, your openness all this wouldn’t be possible to let me unleash sets just like you heard in JOOF Sessions. 

Unlike in clubs where I can see your reactions, I can’t sitting at home/studio. I’ve learned over these few weeks to not look at the comments as I just want to end up chatting with you all (😀) and I need to keep focussed unfolding my musical journey. We’re reliving this wonderful moment from when I played at BOOM Festival on The Alchemy stage in 2018. All sets have been played on BOOM radio and socials apart from mine that wasn’t recorded due to a technical problem and since then has been the biggest request.

I’m having fun over these past few weeks thinking of new ideas to keep our different themes running each week and have another for you. Probably the most annoying trait from me for everyone is that I never record sets, its the biggest question that I always get asked after a gig. The music software I use to organise my music/playlists for the CDJ’s (Rekordbox) saves all the set histories from the gigs that I’ve played, so let me replay a set that stood out for you so that you and others can relive that moment.

John 00 Fleming is an artist who has achieved international success in a career spanning over 30 years without dishonouring his musical essence or fans. A DJ that's known for his music knowledge, a proven musical pioneer and a leader.
His career started at the age of 15 playing his part in the exploding UK rave scene, DJing and promoting evens across the South Coast that soon got the attention of the London underground scene resulting in multiple residencies that instantly put him in the sights of the worlds music media and major record labels opening the doors to his international career.

John went on to mix and compile 40+ DJ mix compilations for labels such as Virgin, Telstar, Sony, and Universal that secured his rise to the top, Gold discs line his studio walls celebrating over 10 million sales along with the worlds leading music store Beatport making John artist of the month acknowledging his investment, loyally and dedication to the electronic scene.
His ability to constantly move forward musically has kept him on the cutting edge frontline of the electronic world throughout his career gaining resect from peers along with building a cult following as he continues to break boundaries of electronic music and genres making him one of the most unique DJ’s on this planet seeing him perform across multiple genres events, yet keeping his integrity in tact with what fans call ‘The JOOF Sound’. The JOOF sound is as unpretentious as the artist, and is best described as deep textured and hypnotic. Performing regularly at the likes of CreamVields festival, EDC festivals, BOOM Festival, Ozora festival, Tomorrowland along with a huge list of clubs from Ministry of Sound, Avalon and Zouk shows just how diverse his attraction is.

As a music producer John’s esteem within the industry has garnered respect from electronic luminaries like Jean Michael Jarre and Muse and while humbly accepting peer endorsement he continues to let his production skills do the talking.
