Welcome to Glastonbury Sounds - a collection taken from the 2014 and 2015 Glastonbury Festival Sound Archive.

From interviews with festival workers, stallholders, through to the fans and speech from peforming artistes, these audio compilations cover a wide representation of the sound archive.  

There are so many more sounds to capture for the archive, but so little time to collect them. We're thinking about how we might open up the archive so festival fans can contribute their own recordings from the 5 days; then taking those most popular ones and creating a Sounds Like Glasto archive section and tag search engine.  Could be fun!

People told us they really love the idea of Glastonbury Festival sounds being kept for future listening. Now you can re-live some of the festival sounds here on SoundCloud. On a winter's night you could sit back, press play and remember your fantastic mid summer Glasto' festival weekend. 

Really big HUGE thanks to all those who took part and are now eager to listen back to themselves at home... tell your friends and tell us what you like about this "sound idea" which one day will be a treasure trove of searchable Glasto audio memories.

The Glastonbury Festival Sound Archive has been a voluntary 'labour-of-love' to gather sounds, comments and interviews at every festival. There are just two years here, but the Archive goes back to 1998, always with the kind cooperation of Michael Eavis and Glastonbury Festivals Ltd providing access each year. 
We estimate (minimum) it has grown to well over 20 hours of content.

DJ Lisa Mae and radio producer Paul Lund are the presenter, producers and interviewers in this 2014-2015 series. There have been others over the years who have teamed-up with Paul to make their contribution through recording and interviewing.

Our 2013-2014 Build-Up & Building features were a special project to chart the pre-Festival activity. The build-up has its own buzz and excitement leading up to the main event. From June 1st onwards the speed and volume of activity is emmence - and that's before the stages start pumping the first sounds to all the thousands of lovely fans who'll be here from the 25th June. The 'Take-down' or pack-down also has its sound qualities and worker's views... seeing it all disappear. Perhaps we'll do that one year.
