First Track off of John's newest album "Autumnal Equinox"
Autumnal Equinox is album three in a series of four albums. Each album is released according to the seasons' change and exude the feeling of that season. This album is part of a songwriting challenge to write one piano song per week. It is meant to be a journey throughout the year that echoes the transition between months and demonstrates the constant among the changes in season and in life. This album expresses the relationship between summer turning into fall.

Coming in at just over two hours long (two hours and nine minutes to be precise) is the first part of the first "The Emporium Project" ... a collection of collaborations that span multiple genres but hold true to their central, uniting force ... Cousin Silas. 

On 1.1, Cousin Silas & his Friends bring to the table: longform ambient and unique sounds inspired by ska ... atmospheric soundscapes that use field recordings and tracks that feel like they were recorded in an out-of-the-way Blues club ... dark ambient eeriness and more percussive sounds. It is, without doubt, a varied set, one that will appeal to the curious and the adventurous in equal measure.

As mentioned above, this is the first part of the first Emporium Project ... you can expect four more parts in the coming days and weeks ... roughly ten hours in total and plenty to keep you occupied in the dark days of winter (in the Northern Hemisphere).

As before, we will use this series as an opportunity to give a little back to our wider community. All monies raised from the sale of this album will be donated to Hospice UK. I am both fortunate and grateful to work for an employer who actively matches all donations made ... so every purchase will be doubled for the benefit of a very worthy cause.

I really do hope you will enjoy this album as much as I have.

These are mp3s of my upcoming album entitled "Journey Home", to be released in early December 2000, recorded and mastered by Joe Bongiorno at Piano Haven Recording Studio in Sedona, AZ.

Journey Home

John has spent most of his life performing. Growing up in Colorado, he began his musical career as the accompanist to school choirs, singers, and instrumentalist, then moved to California to study music composition at CSUN, began scoring films and then joined several different bands based out of L.A.  Because of his film-scoring background, he likes to stay open to experience and play with different genres and styles.  After a country stint with Cheap Rodeo, an indie-based rock group Jo Nash and a solo adventure as John Marshall, he had his experience in musical detours, he decided to come home to his roots: piano.  As a classically trained pianist that doesn’t mind having a rebellious streak and coloring outside of the lines, he finds music a playful (and yet often times predictable) way to express himself and help others feel drawn to the unremarkable thing that moves us all, connection.
