Not much to be said for this other than thanks to Diggers and Output for the chance to do this again.  There really is no better opportunity to take some creative license and really experiment with the dancefloor than when opening for someone with as storied a career as John Digweed.  I hope that comes through in this mix so enjoy the trip.  There's a few throwbacks and nods here to the old days.

A product of the 80’s San Francisco dance music boom, DJ/Producer Doc Martin has been creating innovative, high-energy electronic music for nearly three decades. Once a mainstay on the Pacific Northwest scene, he has gone on to perform everywhere from Ibiza to Tokyo, London, and beyond, creating an enduring body of work in the process. Now, as he enters a new phase of his career, Doc shows no signs of slowing down, as he continues to evolve, revealing new sides of his artistry as he releases the most compelling music of his career.

Doc Martin’s choice to pursue a career in music was an obvious one, given the musical family he grew up in. Most notably, his mother sang with Bay Area icons Jefferson Starship.Doc, however, was more interested in absorbing the various electronic subcultures that were emerging around the country. Endless hours spent in SF’s indie record stores armed him with an expertise in everything from acid house to techno, as he developed the genre-bending style that would come to define his career.

Within a few years of his first performance, Doc was selling out shows across his hometown and began setting his sights on bigger things. In the early ’90s, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he quickly integrated himself into the city’s thriving rave scene. Not long after, his profile had risen enough for him to be invited to Europe to play at some of the continent’s most iconic clubs and parties, including Fabric (Residency), Circoloco, The Rex, Panorama Bar, and Sun waves to name a few, In the ensuing decades, he became a favorite amongst audiences from New York to London, performing regularly at clubs including Output, Coachella, The Roxy, Twilo, City Fox, Space, Desert Hearts, Movement, and Lightning In A Bottle.

After three decades of bringing people together with music, Doc Martin’s passion and drive remain as strong as ever. He maintains a steady schedule of performances across the globe while continuing to release new tracks regularly. As the rare artist to achieve the status of elder statesman, he has left a lasting legacy in electronic music, a legacy which he continues to add to every day.

After coming into his element in recent years, Berlin based The Checkup looks to broaden his horizons even further in the coming period. Raphael has become synonymous with energetic house sounds of old and new, maintaining a soulful outlook as he meanders between animated productions, and positive storytelling with his DJ sets, both of which he has received global acknowledgement for.
Whilst traveling around the world he finds himself on a never ending search for rare 90s house records, occupying the dustiest corners of record shops to uncover gems of the past. 2022 was notably the finest year to date for the vinyl enthusiast, he toured South America, played in European hotspots London, Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid and Tbilisi and landed frequent action in Berlin at the likes of Sisyphos, Watergate, About Blank and Wilde Renate, the home of the Paradise Garage Hommage parties where he holds a residency, and assists with the bookings. His dynamic US house influenced sound has also seen him showcase his music on the legendary Nervous Records, Large Music, Madhouse, Toy Tonics and Meta to name a few. Bucket list material for the continuously rising French talent, flourishing at an alarming rate.

Whilst balancing all of the above The Checkup continues to propel stellar sounds on his own Heattraxx, a project which has seen him sign the likes of Demuir, Elisa Elisa and Demarkus Lewis, a sought after label collaborating with some of the finest names in house music on a regular occurrence. On a day to day basis he holds down the fort at Beatport as the House curator, a nod of approval for his impeccable taste within the genre, and closely related vibes.

It is to no surprise that in recent years The Checkup has received love and support from some of the most inspiring artists within the scene time and time again. A few artists who recognize the realness are Archie Hamilton, Jamie Jones, Kerri Chandler, Alinka, Ben Rau, Riva Starr, Mark Broom and Honey Dijon, a mixed bag of support marking the true versatility of his productions and personality in the booth, with some of his productions gracing the likes of the Panorama Bar dance floor.

The upward trajectory continues and his grips are firmly tightened on even more prolific years ahead!

John Creamer is a highly influential DJ, producer, and songwriter who arrived in New York in the early 90s. He managed Eightball Records store and then became the head of A&R at the legendary Eightball Records label. In 1994, he formed the Butter Foundation, an acid jazz collaboration, with Konrad Carrelli, and they released music on Apollo, a division of R & S Records. In 1995, Creamer met Stephane K, and they became the production duo Creamer & K, producing some of the most iconic production and remixes for artists like Moby, New Order, iiO, Sinead O’Connor, and Kosheen. Creamer has also established his own label named NYLove, created a clothing line, and currently collaborates with Noam Rubinstein under the moniker Up All Night. Creamer is known for his solid and durable DJ sets of New York City deep, sexy, progressive underground house grooves with a personal flair for vocals, and has performed at various venues worldwide.
