Burgeoning Georgian Techno duo Lucid Void touch down with the stratospheric release on the newly formed Benthic.

Opening track 'Envision' is characterized by deep, brooding soundscapes with darkened kicks and bass for a sinister opening, which seamlessly sets up for the tempo switch with the interplanetary sonics of A2 'Assurance'; groove-laden pads blend perfectly around crisp off-kilter Hi-hats creating an extraordinary atmosphere.

On the flip, 'Objection' comprises of glitch sounds that intertwine together with a synth arpeggio and dark kick for a late-night industrial roller, as 'Dogma' concludes this fantastic EP, with unprecedented power, as raw, minimal, undulating sonics that cut effortlessly through the eerie void of space.

This September will see the launch of the Benthic imprint with the ‘Assurance’ EP by Tbilisi, Georgia based artist Lucid Void (Arts Gallery).

Benthic is a new imprint coming out Istanbul, Turkey and aesthetically leaning towards deep, dubby and ambient Techno sonically with its releases. Here to inaugurate the launch of the imprint, Georgia’s Lucid Void offers up four originals of hazy, nuanced deep techno.

Leading the release is ‘Envision’, laid out across five and a half minutes with bubbling percussive delays and broken drums alongside menacing bass swells and hypnotic chants. Title-track ‘Assurance’ follows next, shifting focus to robust 4/4 drums rhythmically while stirring in an amalgamation of cinematic synth textures and choppy bass stabs.

Following to kick-start the flip side is ‘Objection’, bringing a circling, dynamic and gritty bass lead to the forefront while resonant, modulating synths and tension building strings ebb and flow atop a dynamic drum groove. ‘Dogma’ then rounds out the release on a darker tip, bringing grinding bass tones, distorted rhythms and glass like chimes into the limelight.

Beyond The Reach Of Time (Shed Remix)

First released as part the EPM20 compilation from @epm-music, 'Beyond The Reach Of Time' was a track unearthed by British techno icon Karl O'Connor AKA Regis from the archives, showing an introspective, more emotional side to the producer and @downwards label head that had otherwise “been buried in the mists of time.” 

For his take, @shedofficial pulls 'Beyond The Reach Of Time' into tribal territory, deepening the track’s percussive elements with robust drums and shimmering hi-hats. The result is hypnotic and propulsive, while honouring the emotional integrity that forms the soul of Regis’s original.
