Fraîche ist der Sprung in den Rhein an einem heissen Sommertag. Es ist der Drop in deinem Lieblingslied, der dich liebevoll zwingt, den Kopf zum Beat zu bewegen.
Es ist aber auch eine Band: fünf Freunde aus Basel und ihre geteilte Leidenschaft für Grooves, für Funk, Soul und guten Pop. Gemeinsam erschaffen sie Songs, bedienen sich dabei an Methoden der alten und neuen Meister, mischen Mainstream mit Underground, spirituellen Soul mit sündhaftem Rock.
Das Endprodukt klingt ein wenig nach The Meters, nach Justin Timberlake, The Roots, Led Zeppelin, Jamiroquai und doch anders. Fraîche eben.

Fraîche is like jumping into a lake on a hot summer‘s day. It’s the drop in your favourite song that gently forces you to nod your head to the beat.
But it’s also a band: five friends from Basel, Switzerland, that share a passion for grooves, for Funk, Soul and good Pop music. Together they create songs, using the techniques of the old and new masters, mixing underground with mainstream, spiritual Soul with unholy Rock.
The result sounds like The Meters, like Justin Timberlake, The Roots, Led Zeppelin and Jamiroquai, but very different. Let’s just say it sounds pretty Fraîche.

Critiqued as “a cellist of power and grace” (The Guardian) and possessing “mature artistry and willingness to go to the brink,” Seth Parker Woods has established a reputation as a versatile artist straddling several genres. Outside of solo performances, he has performed with the Chineke! Orchestra (UK), Ictus Ensemble (Brussels, BE), Ensemble L’Arsenal (IT), zone Experimental (CH) Basel Sinfonietta (CH), New York City Ballet, Ensemble LPR and Orchestra of St. Luke's (US). A fierce advocate for contemporary arts, he has collaborated and worked with a wide range of artists ranging from the likes of Louis Andreessen, Elliott Carter, Heinz Holliger, Helmut Lachenmann,
and Liza Lim to Peter Gabriel, Sting, Lou Reed, Dame Shirley Bassey, Rachael Yamagata, as well as visual artists Vanessa Beecroft, Aldo Tambellini, Jack Early and Adam Pendleton.

Holding a Ph.D. from the University of Huddersfield, his principal teachers were Thomas Demenga, Lucas Fels, Frederik Zlotkin, and Daniel Morganstern. In recent years he has given talks, workshops and performances at Royal Albert Hall (BBC Proms), Musée d’art Moderne et Contemporain (FR), Le Poisson Rouge and the Bohemian National Hall (USA), Cafe OTO (London, UK), Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (UK), Klang Festival (Durham, UK),
INTER/ actions Symposium (Wales), ICMC-SMS Conference (Athens, GR), NIME Conference (London), Sound and Body Festival (Lille, Brussels), Instalakcje Festival (PL), Virginia Tech, La Salle College (Singapore), and FINDARS (Malaysia) amongst others. Recent awards and acknowledgements include Artist of the Month for Musical America, an Earle Brown/ Morton
Feldman Foundation Grant (USA), McGill University- CIRMMT/IDMIL Visiting Researcher Residency (CA), Centre Intermondes Artist Residency (FR), Francis Chagrin Award (UK), Concours [Re]connaissance- Premiere Prix (FR) and the Paul Sacher Stiftung Research Scholarship(CH).

The New Mastersounds are an astonishingly persistent funk/soul-jazz quartet who were founded in Leeds, UK in 1999 by guitarist/producer Eddie Roberts and drummer Simon Allen. They recruited Pete Shand on bass and Bob Birch on organ & piano. Bob left the band in 2007 and was replaced by Joe Tatton.  By the close of 2013 (the time of writing) their discography boasted more than twenty 7" 45rpm singles, 8 studio albums, 2 live albums, 1 remix album and several compilation albums, with one more studio album and another live album already recorded and pegged for release in 2014. The band has toured all over the USA (having visited 38 of the 50 states at last count), Japan, and to a lesser extent in UK & Europe.  Influences include James Brown, Grant Green, Booker T, Lou Donaldson and The Meters, as well as the (mainly) UK-based DJs who exposed the four musicians to the sounds of lesser known funk acts at the vinyl-only club nights of the mid-90's.
