Waiting On The World To Change

The song “Wild Blue” is an anthem for the journey of self discovery associated with parting ways with someone you love.

As with most of John Mayer’s more introspective songs, the first verse reveals what it’s all about without telling too much.

The first two lines unveil the hopeless feeling you experience after a breakup while the following two lines expand on how lost and lonely you may feel while indicating that it’s the only way forward as he says “… living off the loneliness.”

Later in the song, he realizes something profound and true that builds off of Verse 1… In Verse 2, he says “And in my sorrow I can see, that missing you belongs to me.” Those words highlight the power you hold in allowing yourself to miss your lost partner. It’s an empowering and important realization to getting over a heartbreak.

The essence of the song is captured in the last two lines with the epiphany, “And you’ll never know, The unlikely beauty in letting you go.”

"Wild Blue" is one of his five singles in the studio album "Sob Rock", released on July the 16th, 2021.
