Following Forces’ breakthrough string of acclaimed albums coming out on the key label triad of Bio Future Lab., Conditional & Genot Centre in 2018, Gin&Platonic is extending the output of the Finnish musician and multidisciplinary artist Joonas Siren with his next full-length Epoch:

"The album maps out all these topical ideas (the general political, ecological and social problems) sonically. Collapsing sound material, unsteady temporal structures, noise and distortion build up intensities without catharsis. The tracks are made with different live programming techniques, peculiar time-stretching and layering techniques and other VST and FX’s dysfunctions. Within the mournful aural chaos, there is a potentiality for change."

DISPLAY’s second split tape of 2020 showcases the ethereal and club-cultivated works of Shayu & Cares.

On Shayu’s “The Lake Down There”, pin-point synth patterns and winding melodies constructed of the artists own voice form morphing pastoral hymns. The piece is a delicate float that’s both aesthetically distinct and multifaceted. A clean panorama of shadowy impressions.

The flip side finds Cares exploring mutant, sub-heavy sonics while slowly imploding into stark, ice-cold ambience. “Praying To Sponsor” is as much a bleak epic for the club as it is for zoned-out headphone meditations. A roller coaster of dynamics, the piece finishes of the release off in a blistering fashion.

@djhristos is the arcane doppelgänger of Berlin-based producer, DJ, and queer activist Ion Hristu, affiliated to the @soul_feeder crew and record label where his debut mixtape was released. Reportedly "conceived on the day of Orthodox Easter" 2019, the DJ Hristos musical project bridges present-days electronic music and fast dancefloor genres together with Romanian influences, as well as cutting-edge post-Internet underground culture with a mischievous sense of humor.

Imagine trance and hardcore techno blended with donk and lolicore's typical off-beat frenzy, then dismantled in a contemporary, hybrid club framework, all finally wrapped up on the set of a kinky post-furry opera. Next, add to the mix the staggering, untamable will of a supernatural magickal entity, and then you'd be close enough to a description of DJ Hristos' music.
