Berlin based André Lodemann has been a DJ for more than 20 years.

In 2001 he started to produce music releasing 12-inches and remixes on Moods n Grooves, Simple Records, G-Stone, Room with a View, Z Records, Freerange, Buzzinfly, DFTD amongst others. His tunes ‘Where are you now?’ and ‘The Light’ became hugely popular with the worldwide underground DJ circuit. Other highlights include remixes for Tracey Thorn, Omar, Akabu, Phonique and Vakula to name a few. Citing his greatest influences as Masters at Work, Mateo and Matos, Kerri Chandler and François Kevorkian, Lodemann’s musical vision is to create atmosphere, arouse emotion and touch people musically.

I’ve had the pleasure and opportunity of living in Playa Venao, Panama over the last month. My family is from a small town called Guarare en route to this particular beach, I’ve been visiting this place for as long as I can remember.

From an empty beach with one bohío restaurant and a handful of surfers, this place has blossomed into an international surf destination and dance music hub, while still keeping a small beach town feel. 

This mix is not the sound of Playa Venao, think of this more as an interpretation of my memories of this beautiful place, expressed through song. Enjoy :)

He tenido el placer y la oportunidad de vivir en Playa Venao, Panamá el último mes. Mi familia es de un pueblo llamado Guarare, en camino a esta playa, he estado visitando este lugar desde que tengo memoria.

De una playa vacía con un bohío y unos pocos surfistas, este lugar se ha convertido en un destino internacional de surf y un centro de música, sin dejar de mantener la sensación de un pequeño pueblo de playa.

We poured ourselves into preparing this set. Playing midnight to 1:30am before the legendary Lee Burridge, we wanted to craft a journey that would pull the dance floor inward, putting them in touch with their emotions while putting them in motion. We don't often prepare a set tracklist, but we did for this set to keep the energy ebbing and flowing just right while weaving across different tonalities. We hope you enjoy this melodic dreamscape through the introspective, melancholy, groovy, and uplifting.

Hard to believe it’s been half a year since I uploaded my last set on Soundcloud. I’m happy to share this recording from The Bow in Buenos Aires, recorded last month. 

If you’ve been following over the years, it’s no secret that The Bow holds a special place in my heart as one of the best places in the world to play, since the Argentinians are some of the most passionate music lovers I’ve ever seen. 32 hours of travel for a 3 hour set (and 3 steaks) is well worth it, every single time.

Music has always had a way of pulling me into the present. I grew up living in Panama and Germany where I was exposed to sounds I’ll cherish forever; salsa, merengue, samba in Latin America in the ’90s, electronic music in Europe in the mid-2000s. That infused with an Americana third culture upbringing abroad, I found my ability to relate to others without speaking. As I dove into the electronic music scene in my early 20’s, music became one of the many ways I learned how to make an impact on the world.

Now as an artist, it’s always been my aim to impart that impact and presentness with others. I’ve experienced so many beautiful moments under a DJ’s spell, completely present-minded and entranced, it’s a goal of mine to give that feeling back. Now in a world full of distractions, giving someone the space to outsmart their smartphone is the best gift of all.
