Whether it’s behind the scenes or behind the decks, Marcus Meinhardt is definitely one of the most active members of the German club scene. The thirty-something Dj has defined the Berlin sound with his countless club gigs including his residency at the world renowned Watergate club. He is also a welcome guest on the international electronic parquet with his elegant, hypnotizing sets and sympathetic nature. He is a true character in the electronic music scene. Marcus is also a well known party organizer in and around Berlin; the Home Sweet Home parties have taken the cities best after hour locations by storm,. The famed Muna-Tent at the SonneMondSterne Festival would not be where it is today if it wasn’t for Markus’ co organization and closing sets.

He was born in the quiet county of Thüringen, where, once infected by the techno bug, he soon took up residency at the Muna, one of East Germany’s most renowned clubs. During this time he and the Muna team began organizing the SonneMondSterne-Festival, which, today is one of Europe’s largest and most famous Open Air’s.

Marcus finally moved to Berlin in 2002 where he took a head dive into the pulsating club scene that gave him enough room to experiment musically. This inspired him to begin producing his own tracks. His first EP was released in 2006 on Micro.Fon. In the beginning of 2007 Markus and his friends Marco Resmann and Hawks Grunert founded the label Upon You, which has managed to establish itself as one of the most important Tech-House-Labels in such short a time. His fine sense of Intuition for the dance floor can be detected when listening to his subtle arrangements and finely balanced sounds. Proof being »Drive It Mad Max«, »Pacey Lynn«, or »Jerry Lee« which are among the most successful Upon You releases to date. The Superflu Remix of Mad Max even made it on to Beatport’s »Best Underground Sellers 2009« list.

Marcus has learned a lot about the specialties of the music business through his work with Upon You. His commitment has made the label nights in Berlin’s Panorama Bar and arena club, Stuttgart’s Romy S and the international venues in Barcelona, Amsterdam and Milan as successful as they are. Marcus also helped to find new artists for the label Upon You. These days, Resmann and Grunert continue with the labelwork of Upon You while Meinhardt focus solely on his creative output.

In 2010 and 2011 he concentrated on his music production and travelled through the world presenting his musical ideas. On his journey Marcus was influenced and inspired by many musical genres and artists. As a result, Marcus decided to found his own Label called „Heinz-Music“ this forward thinking label will be a platform where his fellow artists and friends can have fun with and enjoy a musical experience mainly orientated on dance floor music.

In 2008, Denis Lihotzky and Max Keck noticed a void in the Cologne underground music scene. So the two friends decided to start a project with the aim to fill that void: to provide Cologne with a regular event, which focuses on Melodic Techno. As an ode to their homeland, the Oberbergischer Land, they named their event Bergwacht or “Mountain Rescue”, and began to host parties once a month in Cologne’s Artheater. Denis “Liho”, who not only manages its bookings, but is also Bergwacht’s resident DJ, programs each event with an eye for upcoming talent and an ear for extraordinary music. Bergwacht’s guest DJs continue to attract a loyal and energetic audience, and by 2012, Bergwacht has become an important part of the Cologne underground Techno scene. Continuing to follow their passion, in September of 2012, the Oberbergischer troupe launched Bergwacht Records as an outlet to curate and present the music they love most, “Melodic Techno”. Their debut release features Max Keck and his longtime friend and collaborator Sven Kirchner as Tool..8 with remixes by Lanny May and Boss Axis. Spricht man im Milieu der malenden Künstler von der „Neuen Leipziger Schule“, so würde man in der Zunft der Discostahl drehenden Elektronikklangerzeuger Sino Sun einer solchen Gattung zuordnen. Stilistisch pendelt Sino Sun heute zwischen neuem Electro, minimalem Rave und etwas forscherem House Sound. Und House ist für ihn die Wiege allen Ursprungs – damit begann er, egal welcher speziellen Auslegung, sei es klassisch, mit Gesang, oder eher synthetisch – Hauptsache House. Heute darf es ein wenig mehr sein, schließlich will Sino Sun keine Begrenzung seines Sounds. Diese Entwicklung ist durchaus natürlich, denn Sino Sun spielt häufig – testet, experimentiert, verwirft und nutzt die Überraschung. Dieser Prozess führt zwangsläufig zur Erweiterung des Spektrums und sorgt für die Vielschichtigkeit in seiner Darbietung. Aber nur das Auflegen allein genügt einem Hyperaktiv- Kreativen nicht aus, schließlich ist er auf das Aufspüren und Vermarkten der richtigen Strömung spezialisiert. Klar also, dass er sich vielerorts für das Gelingen von Tanzfesten verantwortlich zeigt – quasi der Mann mit dem sicheren Gespür das Szene- Pulsieren frühzeitig zu erspüren.

In terms of style, today he keeps changing between new Electro, minimal Rave and brisk House sound. For him House is the cradle of any origin - with it he starts spinning vinyl, no matter which special interpretation, whether it is classical, with vocal or synthetic - the main thing for him is House. Today it can be a little bit more, after all Sino Sun doesn't want a limitation of his sound. This development is quite normal, because the musican often plays - tests, experiments, rejects and uses the surprise. This process inevitably leads to extend the spectrum and ensures the great complexities in his performances. But only spinning vinyl is not enough for the hyperactive-creative artist, after all he is specializes in divine and market the right trend. It's clear that the artist is responsible for the success of Dance Festivals in many places - the man with the serious sense of feeling the scene pulse early on.
