http://soundcloud.com/correspondant is back with its 19th release due out 9 September, 2013. This time we welcome back French producer http://soundcloud.com/offsetmusic who had previously appeared on the label with his Gazoline EP in the spring of last year. 

His latest 12", Absinthe, opens with the title track quickly pulling the listener into a theatrical and futuristic thriller where you feel as if you're part of the suspenseful plot. The journey continues with 'Falling', a spacious and groove laden track. Hovering around ten minutes each, the first two tracks of the EP set a remarkably vast and gripping scene. 

The second half of the release is composed of remixes by Jokers of the Scene and http://soundcloud.com/madato. Jokers of the Scene, a Canadian duo, remix the title track 'Absinthe' while Madato lends a remix of 'Falling'. Each of these acts has an unmistakable affinity for surreal and cerebral sounds, which makes them apt additions to Offset's material.

Idle Press boss, DJ Sundae has crafted together a beautiful hour long mix for the 14th edition of the podcast series.

Sundae's Idle Press began by repressing the 1982 Pitch single - 'What Am I Gonna Do For Fun' and has gone on to release music from Smagghe & Cross, and recently an edits compilation of proto-trance tracks by Alexis Le-Tan. 

Alongside organising this stream of amazing releases on Idle Press, in 2016 Sundae put together a brilliant compilation of folk-pop, and new wave tracks, selected with fellow frenchman Julien Dechery. 'Sky Girl' has been noted as an essential album of the last few years. 

Sundae's impeccable taste can also be heard on his regular radio show, No Weapon is Absolute, which he co hosts with Cosmo Vitelli. Throughout this mix we are given a look into Sundaes unique taste that we have admired for a number of years. Recorded last summer from a remote cabin on Manitoulin Island, Matthew Bailey and Carl Schilde’s debut album under the name Playdate have been improvised and recorded onto stereo cassette tape in 2 days. Umpredictable cosmic journey full of oscillating melodies and dreamy arpeggios landscapes, this splendid tape was inspired by the forest breeze and insect drones that surrounded them. Spacial, fantasist and melancholic, this 30m ambient jewel will be out on June 7th via Seance Center website.

Number 40 in the series coming in courtesy of Jacob Gorchov, long time collector, DJ and owner of the Palto Flats label. Jacob was kind enough to host us in NYC last summer after a Commend in store and we spent the night chatting about music, upcoming projects and life in general. Turns out we're very much on the same page in our tastes so it's a pleasure to host this recording. Words from Jacob below: 

This mix was recorded live a year ago as a declaration of the music I was listening to at the time; a culmination of artists/sounds I’d worked with, and others that long informed my listening habits. I’d often toyed with the idea of taking background sounds and interpolating them with more accessible sounds in my mixes, and this I think does that, with a heavy emphasis on melody and  rhythm, as well as a plethora of mid-late 80s v/a mailorder compilations full of otherwise unknowns and one-offs (those records being some of the most enjoyable listens).

Includes music by: Alvin Curran, PWOG, Luc Marianni / Zex Pitron, R. Girardin, Y. Yoshikawa, and more.

In 1916, in the middle of the First World War, a small town in Ontario changed its name from Berlin to Kitchener. Many mercurial decades later, in 1988, the town now a mid-sized city, a duo called Vernal Equinox released a record that seemed to trace its roots back to Berlin, but this time the shadowy post-war Berlin of the 70s that produced Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze and his Innovative Communications family, and Bowie and Eno’s Berlin Trilogy. These inspirations, viewed through a prism of 80s New Age and the autumnal denim-clad rural Ontario, became New Found World. 

New Found World is the inaugural release on Aural Medium, Toronto-based non-musician Linus Booth’s new label focussing on revisionist electronic, industrial and no wave music. Remastered from the reels and pressed on double 45rpm vinyl with an unreleased track from the original sessions.

Limited edition of 500 copies. 100 on bone white vinyl, 400 on black vinyl.

Séance Centre Feat Brandon Hocura & Linus Booth @ The Lot Radio 09 - 09 - 2019

Grounded in Detroit & Berlin. Digitised my vinyl and loving getting lost in a mix again. Most of this won't be up everyones street. BLUE mixes = most of the people, RED = some,  DARK = maybe just me

Composed in the confines of a Toronto studio, the expansive sound of End Scene is based on decades of VHS-addled film music, new wave jams, weirdo library records, acid house bangers, selected ambient works, and warehouse jackers. Crafted for modern listening from the analog echoes of cybernetic dreams, End Scene reflects a cohesive vision for the Jokers of the Scene's intensely eclectic sensibility. This is headphone music made to move bodies, at once familiar and confounding fresh.

From the ominous intro, “Umbilical Chords,” through the slow house of “Channels For Success” and the gritty sheen of "Industrial Blonde," this collection builds on the Jokers’ strengths and successes. But the duo, comprised of Linus Booth and Chris Macintyre, defy expectation at every turn; moving from the cavernous percussion of “Home Video Is Wherever I’m With You” to the widescreen ecstasy of “Stoned In Death Valley” and the breakneck pace of “Hunk Of Punk.” The ambient vibes of the Jokers’ 2012 " Lovely Sort of Death" (originally released in two parts by Scion on limited 7” vinyl) close out the album as a digital-only bonus.

Looking to do more than simply get End Scene into stores, Booth and Macintyre recruited Adam Marshall's acclaimed New Kanada imprint and NYC's underground powerhouse Throne Of Blood to create a collaborative label, Throne Of Kanada, to help realize their full vision for End Scene. In addition to the LP, JOTS are releasing a special cassette-only set of “bonus tracks” with LA’s Mount Analog and are working with New York based musician and artist Sean Dack to create the album artwork as well as a series of short films to accompany each track. Keeping with the duo’s notion of “casting” a dream team to realize End Scene, the final mix was completed by Brandon E. Hocura and Mark J. Murray at Polyphasic Studios in Toronto and mastering was done by the likeminded musical iconoclast James Savage, from Glasgow's inimitable Naum Gabo. Everything is immaculately crafted, right down to the titles - plays on words that show that even when they’re doling out dark slabs of drone and heady techno, these are Jokers at heart.
