Tresor Records are excited to announce the new EP from machine techno luminary Lady Starlight aka Colleen Martin. Capricorn Rising comprises five razor-sharp cuts from the acclaimed producer, DJ, and Surgeon co-conspirator whose laser-focused work ethic reflects the EP's astrological namesake. 

Capricorn Rising is anchored by the record's most propulsive, trance-inducing cut, "Mass;" an off-kilter conversation between chattering birds and a breathing sample that makes for an otherworldly melody. "I wanted to create a feeling rather than a sound," explains Martin of the catalyst for the record. 

Martin describes the recording of Capricorn Rising as a cathartic process. "I thought of myself as fearless since I have always rejected societal norms and I'm very comfortable expressing ideas," she offers. "However, I realised I actually had a lot of fear when expressing anything emotional." 

The EP is the outcome of shaking off that fear. Using her feelings as a guide, Martin creates a space somewhere between euphoria, dissociation, and wonder. "This is where I hope to take the listener," she says. 

This emotional liberation peaks on "Reinforce," which sidesteps towards extraterrestrial acid and swirling, cosmic pads that reach for a new dimension. Meanwhile, "Chapter 23" is an industrial-dipped roller that creaks with eerie atmospherics before erupting into a meteor shower of kicks. This percussive workout continues on "Prism," which makes a plea for bodily oblivion. 

Martin often closes out her live sets with the EP's euphoric title track; a seamless, starry-eyed slammer that encapsulates the headiness of the Lady Starlight universe. Oiled and limbered for the dancefloor, these are dynamic, teflon-tough techno tracks that deftly align with Martin's virtuosic hardware performances.

This EP on @oscarmulero's Warm Up Recordings comes through as a double edition on digital and vinyl. Throughout six songs, including a remix by Oscar Mulero himself, the Italian travels through that pleasant area of techno where textures, hypnotic rhythms and intelligent arrangements are the starring. 

"Elliptic" raises the rhythmic pulse and focusing more on the dance, but without leaving aside mentalism.

We begin the sound journey with Zenith, slow speed, floating drones, crunchy textures and elastic bass provided on a mental and progressive arrangement.
 
Elliptic is a logical continuation of the previous one, raising the rhythmic pulse and focusing more on the dance, but without leaving aside mentalism, setting the pace to Focal Zone, which delves into the lowest frequencies and slides towards more club territories, again with the spongy textures as an addition.
 
Axial returns to the meditative approach, withsynthetic sequences as main component, mutating and changing in frequency with wisdom. Nadir is the arrhythmic farewell to this pristine work, a perfect environmental exercise that takes us to the last cut, the remix that Oscar Mulero makes on Focal Zone in which the components are energized and hypnosis deepens with Oscar's trademark sound.
 
A new sonic proposal in our catalog, in the form of gourmet techno.

Hailing from the Midwest US, Jon Hester is an embodiment of the movements, sounds, and attitude that have continued to push techno and house forward. His energy and enthusiasm brought him all the way from beginnings in Chicago and Minneapolis to his present home base of Berlin.

With music released on Rekids, Klockworks, Deeply Rooted, and performances worldwide at clubbing institutions such as Berghain Berlin, Rex Club Paris, fabric London, and Vent Tokyo, he is equally keen for the fresh intensity of newer clubs dotting South America and South Africa. Jon continues building on the very expression he connected with more than 20 years ago via his label, Participation, an outlet for his own output as well as collaborative efforts with fellow artists in the global techno and house community. The collaborations are realized through a reciprocal exchange of sketches between artists, with artwork comprised of a simple one-line drawing from Hester himself – underscoring the directness, honesty, and immediacy of the music presented.

Participation launched in October 2023 with a solo EP from Hester, followed by collaborations with Panorama Bar favorite Cassy, Madrid Techno figurehead Tadeo, Tokyo's legendary DJ Shufflemaster, and Swedish techno mainstay Joel Mull. With an exciting series of forthcoming releases in the works for 2024, Participation will continue to inspire, surprise, and delight listeners around the globe, with the impressive depth and breadth of Hester’s tastes and abilities on full display.
