Osàre is the new label from Elena Colombi with the attitude of future-facing music culled from a legacy of forward-thinking experimentation and abandon, imbued with a sense of complete freedom, transcending expectations of time and genre. Uniting under the moniker of Free Range, prolific US underground producer Matt Weiner (2MR, Night People) and Lithuanian experimentalist Ernestas Sadau (Pinkman, Digital Tsunami), provide Osàre’s first release with King of Snake. A lovingly sludgy collaboration, the record mixes DIY electronics with droning, atmospheric and space-inflected new wave influences, underscored by a surrealist edge glimpsed in track titles such as ‘Relax, It’s Just Eggs’ and ‘Washing Machine Speaking’.

Franz Kirmann is set to release a new album on Ransom Note affiliated record label Bytes, an imprint which has been widely supported and well received since formation. The new album comes from a singular musician and producer who channels the atmospheric and the abstract. However, perhaps Franz is best left to explain for himself...

"My next album, entitled Madrapour, will be a cassette released by Ransom Note sub label Bytes. This is a return to my analog hardware roots after the very digital Elysian Park I released in 2016. One of my musical heroes Andrew Weatherall describes it as “achingly beautiful” and that means a lot to me! I hope you will agree with him!"

Sebastian Mullaert has always been a seeker and an innovator, so naturally his long awaited debut solo album, ”A Place Called • Inkonst“ presents an unique artistic concept and a thoughtful exploration of the relationship between sound and space. 

For several weeks, Mullaert spent most of his time at Kontra-Musik’s home base Inkonst, an old chocolate factory turned cultural hub in the busy urban area of Möllan, Malmö city. Working in solitude outside the venue's usual hours, he built his live rig in front of the PA, right in the middle of the dance floor. This figurative role reversal between a dancer and performer allowed him to fully immerse himself in a perspective as close as possible to that of the audience during the process of creation. Mullaert’s recording studio lies deep within a beautiful forest in the south of Sweden, a setting which has increasingly made its mark on his music: lush, green and spacious. It’s a lovely place that makes for equally lovely music, but contentment is art’s worst enemy. The complete displacement during the recording process of this album has affected his music profoundly. Mullaert’s usually wide horizon of green hills and tall beech wood is more condensed and focused here, taking the form of urban patterns of life. Shades of longing and melancholy run through the album and those hazy ambient parts are no longer modelled on morning mist, they are exuding from smoke machines. 

The album is an exploration of improvisation, an approach that has become far more than a method for Mullaert:  For him this is a way of encountering the present. The tracks are expressions of chance; collisions and collaborations of sound waves caught in the moment by Mullaert, like snapshots of fleeting harmony. The thematics are always distinct but at the same time ever morphing, pulsating and breathing like living entities. As the music changes we accordingly change with it. New patterns of movement and thought emerge and we improvise to keep up. This is the concept of dancing in its purest form, but also of meditation. A place called • Inkonst is made for both. 

A place called • Inkonst is Sebastian Mullaert’s hommage to improvisation - an approach that is central to his work as a musician, as well as his critically acclaimed Circle Of Live event series concept he launched last year. The here and now is always in a state of flux, so improvising is the only true way to experience the present.

This album is inspired in a process in wich people come to terms with

the loss of a loved one. “intro” “about the death and moribunds” nega-
cion the first part is only a temporary shield for the individual.

This feeling is generally replaced with an increased sensibility of the

person wich is falling back. IRA Why? Its not fair ? How is this happe-
ning? In the second stage, the individual recognize that negation can

not continue, due to the anger.
Trancision, the third stage involves the hope that the individual can in
some way put off or delay the deal.
Depresion, during the fourth stage, it becomes clear the certainty of

death. It because of this that the individual can become silent. This pro-
cess allows the person lose contact with all feeling of love and affection.

Acceptation, generally, the person in this stage just ant to be left

alone. In this point the individual enters a state of relief, serenity an in-
terior peace because his loved one is resting.

Mirada interior, this stage as an atittude of the person suppose looking
inside but also looking from inside.
Emoción predominate, ofinally, the person understands that we are the
masters of our emotions and e are able to control them.

It looked so free and peaceful. She longed to feel that way, to be comfortable in the outside world among the birds, among the people, but something wouldn't let her. As she went to leave the window, it caught her eye. It was as if it were singing to just her and only her. Maybe this was a sign of encouragement, a nudge to embrace the outside world after so long inside. As she stepped out the door the sun hit her face and she smiled deeply. She felt as light as a feather, as if the gentle breeze could wisk her off her feet at any given moment. This was what she'd been missing...

A close member of Ruf Dug's Ruf Kutz family, it was at their takeover at Gottwood festival this summer that these blissful ambient productions were first heard by Banoffee Pies, who then invited Sarah to release some of them on their Sonder Series sub-label. PREMIERE : Caly Jandro - But One Word (Original Mix) [Beat & Path]

Stutters in her heart lead to misspoken phrases and forgotten retorts as her unwanted words reverberate via his razor sharp tongue. Frustration lead to washes of embarrassment as clarity fills her black-streaked eyes. “Why am I here when your pride is worth more than my love?” she says before grabbing her coat and making every effort to slam the door on the way out. The night calls to the girl and the girl steps forward.

Hôtel Costes' next release comes via JAC, an offshoot of Midiminuit, a project previously released as part of HC's series. JAC is the result of a day experimenting in the studio between three of the Midiminuit members, when the fourth member of the group Jonathan Levi had to leave their recording for a day. An acronym for the trio involved, Julien, Adrien and Ceaser, the four tracks on the release comprise of everything from ethereal synth lines, oscillating drums and reverberated keys.

Get to know Jennifer Loveless, the Melbourne-based producer with a sublime ear for emotive arrangements, underpinned with skippy percussion and complex rhythms. The overwhelming sensations of physical, social, and emotional detention painted the horizon with a nostalgic hue..."so we felt a certain type of nostalgia for this particular future..." And now, in their sets and performances, Jonny Sriraxa and LuciB aim to transmit the entirety of that accumulated energy through rhythms oriented towards the dance floor--evoking reflection through motion-- and flowing across a variety of genres, histories, and influences that fuse the old, new, and still-evolving.
