Zona Del Silencio or the Zone of Silence is an area deep in the Mexican desert. It is the home of several rare, mutant species of animals (including the purple cactus and a malformed version of the desert tortoise). The area’s name derives from an odd anomaly that prohibits radio waves from transmitting inside the zone. When asked about the strange phenomena, the locals invariably reply that they do not see strange things in the desert, only strange people.

As the King Cobra uncoils from a woven basket and flares out its iconic hood, it appears to sway back and forth hypnotically as the snake charmer plays his flute. Timpani solos, a variety of percussion, syncopated rhythms and colorful harmonies are woven together to create an exotic tapestry of sound that will captivate young musicians and their audiences. Puma & The Dolphin releases their first EP and it is massive. Our pick up is a B1 track -  "Cobra Dance".
Taking a similar yet slightly different aproach to the post-punk sound of previous tracks, this tune features a catchy bassline and groovy percussion, alternating between vocal samples, melodic elements, and rhythmic phrases. As light makes its way through the tall trees in abstract patterns, she feels her anxieties evaporating like fine mist from the waters ahead… inner peace amongst the surrounding chaos as the shadows absorb her ego. Her heart rumbles with profound rhythm, like a centrifuge of the soul.

Tunisian producer Azu Tiwaline’s track ‘Itrik’ is an undertaking of hypnotism that taps in to ancestral roots. An exploration of the contrast between light and dark, the song melds traditional North African-sentimentalities and Berber music with more contemporary electronic influences. Her focused approach to production sits glittering synths atop an undercurrent of ritualistic groove that’s enough to make anybody go native.

They initially collaborated in 2002, in New York City, as Soul Dynamics, a live electronic group including some of the city´s jazz musicians. The leap forward takes place in an electronic key with a refined and classy house style that blends genres to become even more seductive and  enveloping. After debuting in 2019 on Pablo Bolívar's label, Seven Villas, followed by an EP on Culprit and another on Hafendisko, with Ghost Clap EP reaping great reviews, they now introduce a new EP, Between Spaces, with it they take a step further into their sound.
The EP quickly captivates with its title track followed by Side Effect, where they demonstrate their skills with the machines; its eclectic, elegant, powerful and magnetic. It then closes with So Far, a beautiful collaboration with handpan musician Shirin, the song adds a magic touch to a duo that knows how to find subtle feelings and soul where other producers left it be. 
To do something great one must shred conventionalities, this is what Basic Need aims for with Between Spaces, and they do so by selecting the best of the past while toying with the present and propelling themselves into the future.

The World, as we know it, has changed. A routine rethought has allowed time to create. With borders closed and friends isolated from one another, our ‘40 Days In Quarantine’ series has invited artists to connect us all together once more via the power of music, as we live out this surreal and dystopian period. 

Borders Of Light’s boss, Toto Chiavetta, delivers our first installment - three tracks characterizing and capturing the varying emotions felt whilst confined by himself in Italy. It touches against the chaotic, the calm and the positive - emotions we have all been battling with over the past weeks. It shows the testament of the human mind and the strength and emotions we have all been experiencing. 

Pink Floyd - If (Toto Chiavetta Re-Built): A calm state of mind

A delicate rework on the original released in 1970, Toto replenishes the track for a new lease of life. A drift of stillness at the beginning indicates a more relaxed mindset, with slight creaks woven in delicately to allow more depth in-between. The soft temperament of the added beat allows the original folk-inspired guitar chords to flutter towards the centre of attention, before the original vocals hit and pique our attention: our ears fully in tune with each word mustered. Although a track which was released 50 years ago, the lyrics remain more relevant than ever - ‘the spaces between friends’ and ‘if I were to sleep, I could dream’, reminding us of the fragility of the mind when it’s left to wander and how we so lust for human company when forced to be alone. As the vocals fade gently, the beat arises with more zeal for an optimistic and spirited finish.

As the first act ever in the fifteen EPs comprising label catalogue the trio, consisting of Manuel Tur, Adrian Hoffmann and Ramin Nouyan, have the honor to deliver a follow-up three tracker – to their first EP Jazire. The initially mentiond Common Factors thereby takes a leading part or rather said the part to  express the trio's emotional approach by creating slick melodies that connect right away with the audience and transports Amberoom's feels into the club, onto the floor into one's heart. 

Amberoom's EP Common Factors will be released on TAU on April 17th, 2020.

PRÈMIÉRE: Mono-Tone - Earth Is Where I Live [Moon Tones Records]

'Lucas Buchta and Gary Pilz have been profound producers for a good chunk of the last decade. Throughout the years, their individual forces intertwined into a germafrican vision. Combining Luc's love for a detailed sound and Gary's exceptional sound design, their project "LADS" was born. The German and South African duo has seen their first releases dropped in 2017, including a debut remix on Nie Wieder Schlafen that climbed up various Spotify playlists and marked the start of continuous collaboration between the label and artists. Three years later, the team returns for an ambitious original release, pressed on black gold.

The 5-tracker EP "Bamboo" explores a broad array of sounds, from the orientalic "Cedar", including Gary's own beautiful vocals to the textured "Tin Pan Alley", including a special piano recording from Luc. Ambient atmospheres and funky house vibes with "EDL" and main title track "Bamboo" deliver the front and backend of the release, offering a diverse palette with various energy levels. The digital release includes the exclusive "Eis", which is ironically melting dancefloors with a powerful dance base, fueled with emotive strings and atmospheres. The EP underlines the duo's incredible talent and showcases the potential of their capabilities. A next step for their project, also available on black gold.

Jonny Sriraxa & Luci B's indomitable sonic system, Nostalgia Futura is a project born during the first confinement period in Madrid, Spain, at the peak of the Covid-19 crisis. The overwhelming sensations of physical, social, and emotional detention painted the horizon with a nostalgic hue..."so we felt a certain type of nostalgia for this particular future..." And now, in their sets and performances, Jonny Sriraxa and LuciB aim to transmit the entirety of that accumulated energy through rhythms oriented towards the dance floor--evoking reflection through motion-- and flowing across a variety of genres, histories, and influences that fuse the old, new, and still-evolving.
