@kamounmusic has developed a signature sound where percussive intensity meets atmospheric depth, blending polyrhythmic drums with modern electronic textures. His fascination for traditional tribal percussion, paired with influences from minimalist field recordings and British bass culture, generates a hypnotic energy that resonates with the raw power of contemporary electronic music.

On 'Wave Prophecy', his first 12" on Dance Data, Kamoun showcases his distinct range - from deep tribal grooves to high-energy dance tracks, Kamoun fuses rhythmic complexity with avant-garde sensibility, forming a unique and addictive sonic palette.

Kamoun - Wave Prophecy EP [DDR009]

A gas generator, a hi-fi system, a semi-abandoned house, and 20 hastily printed flyers. That's how, almost without realizing it, Lapsus was born in 2004.

Over the course of two decades, we've ridden a rollercoaster of emotions: from soaring epiphanies, convinced that nothing could stop us, to moments of near defeat when we almost threw in the towel. Let's be honest: Making a career out of music is not exactly choosing the easy path.

But epic tales aside, today we look back with pride at having created something that, in our humble view, is genuine. To celebrate Lapsus' journey and what lies ahead—and also keeping an eye on what is yet to come—we've gathered some of the artists who have joined us along the way, musicians we consider friends and for whom we have the deepest admiration. In a way, VINT (Catalan for “twenty”) is like a sonic photo album, a tracklist that tells our story better than we could ourselves, a collection of unreleased music that celebrates the fact that we've made it this far.

Leading this outstanding compilation are forward-thinking producers, with contributions from some of the most respected names in cutting-edge electronic music (A-Z): CLARAGUILAR, GAZZI, Kettel, Kode9, Le Motel, Lord Of The Isles, Marina Herlop, naemi, Nueen, Pépe, Plaid, Seph, Simo Cell, Suzanne Ciani, Wordcolour, and µ-Ziq.

this week’s 909 podcast is a gritty edition from rodrigue dubois filled with juxtaposing energy of raw industrial soundscapes alongside moments of calming interludes. featuring tracks from air max 97, cs + kreme, dites safran, damna, lurka and lots of unreleased production from rodrigue himself. 

based in france, rodrigue dubois recently made his production debut on simo cell’s temet imprint. longtime friends and collaborators, rodrigue and simo first discovered and learned ableton together around 2010, experimenting and refining their craft side by side. speaking about the learning process and the early days working with ableton rodrigue says, “we were learning so slowly. those first three years (if not more) were really rough, and since we didn’t have any strong reference points in production, we had to just stumble along, learn by accident and experiment. i remember one day objekt spent 24 hours answering every question on a dubstep forum, that was like the holy grail!” rodrigue is also part of a band where he plays on guitar and what he is focusing most of his time on at the moment alongside the want to collaborate and work with other artists. with the knockout success of his debut, ‘old feelings’, we’re excited to see the start of this public artistic journey and where it heads next.

'Floating, Glowing' is the latest release by producer RXEX, finding a home on much-loved Naarm/Melbourne-based label Backpocket Slammers. 

"A six-track voyage through shadowy low-end terrain," 'Floating, Glowing' is a mix of introspection and build, perfectly articulating the forward-thinking approach to Australia's more experimental takes on dance floor psychedelia, featuring remixes by none other than Andy Garvey and Autogenesis.

'Bone Whistler', premiered here, is a heaving mix of dubstep and half-time drum & bass, consistently shifting its shape but with a consistent dedication to weighty percussion. 

Of the track, RXEX shared a similar kind of smokey mystique:

"Exhale decaying rhythms, glowing and dissolving into shadow — inhale the unknown, floating light of fractured realms, rising from the dreams of silent nights."

Tunisian producer Azu Tiwaline’s track ‘Itrik’ is an undertaking of hypnotism that taps in to ancestral roots.
