Yoann Lemoine aka Woodkid, is widely regarded as one of the most creative and exciting artists working in the contemporary music, as witnessed by his hugely acclaimed videos for Global superstars Lana Del Ray and Drake & Rihanna amongst others. Woodkid is the musical artist, the songwriter/singer/lyricist/producer, who has made this beautiful record. The visual aspect remains hugely important with Woodkid directing all his own videos and turning his live performances into a spectacle rarely seen in the world of pop music. Together with a 30-piece orchestra, he turned the venerable Le Grand Rex theatre in Paris into a place of ecstasy in front of 3,000 adoring fans last September. “When I started playing my own music, I wanted it to be as tall as a skyscraper. Images can achieve that. A really big orchestra can also achieve that.” 

This creative ambition and artistic freedom have allowed Woodkid to make such a unique sounding and powerful album as The Golden Age.  “It’s all about that time of passage between adolescence and adulthood, into that confusing hyper-reality,” Woodkid notes.

Créé en 1995 autour de deux MCs, un DJ et un studio dans une chambre à coucher, Hocus Pocus s’affirme dès le départ comme un ovni sur la scène rap française. Avec un premier album, Seconde formule, en 1997 édité à 1000 exemplaires, le jeune groupe commence à faire parler de lui chez les initiés par sa singularité. En effet, se référant plus à The Roots qu’à N.W.A, Hocus Pocus rompt dès le départ avec les sonorités en vogue pour s’illustrer dans un registre beaucoup plus instrumental. Cette particularité, le groupe la préserve et la cultive si bien que la formation évolue vers un mc unique, 20syl, qui en plus de DJ Greem s’accompagne de musiciens. 20syl continue de produire et écrire la totalité des titres du groupe qui se fait connaître du grand public par le morceau Hip hop ? en 2005 paru sur l’album 73 touches puis avec le disque Place 54. Celui-ci est salué par la critique comme par le public et est récompensé d’un disque d’or. Ainsi, Hocus Pocus s’installe dans le paysage musical français et au delà, en se distinguant par son parti pris à part dans le milieu du hip hop mais également par la qualité des live qu’il offre. Hocus Pocus a ainsi poursuivi son chemin atypique tout en gagnant le cœur du public mais aussi de ses pairs. Les collaborations de choix se sont multipliées avec notamment Akhenaton, Oxmo Puccino, Alice Russell ou encore le mythique Fred Wesley. En plus d’avoir touché son rêve du doigt, le groupe fait office aujourd’hui de référence.

The four DJs’ dedication to their art has led them to make a clean sweep of the DMC World Champion title for four years in the row (2003 - 2006).

C2C consists of 20syl and Greem (from Hocus Pocus) and Pfel and Atom (from BeatTorrent). 

After a decade of teamwork, they dropped their debut EP, Down the Road in 2012. The success of this first project provided a strong foot forward for the anticipated release of their groundbreaking album Tetra the same year.

Critically acclaimed, the record was rewarded four “Victoire de la Musique” (French Grammys) and a Double Platinium Record. 

Features’ enthusiast, C2C has invited several artists on record (Gush, Jay Jay Johansson...) and has shared the stage with major acts such as French poly instrumentalist -M-, while working on iconic remixes (Bernhoft, Vitalic etc.).

Their original music videos F.U.Y.A. and Delta showcases C2C’s neat and eccentric visual esthetic. 

On stage, C2C’s impressive scenography discloses the band’s love for graphic design and visual arts. Their flawless identity and their original sound catapulted the quartet from European’s biggest stages to the Coachella music festival.

Savant mix of Hip Hop and electronic C2C’s has shaken the music landscape and has turned turntabilsm into a pop culture phenomenon.
