This episode is a tribute to World music, and to the Babyfather concert at la fonderie in Paris seen through the raw, experimental vibes of Dean Blunt, Babyfather, Hype Williams, Lolina, Joanne Robertson, and Klein. Mixing ambient, noise, grime, guitar,rap, they flip how we create and hear music. Together, these artists deconstruct genre conventions, layering fragmented soundscapes, haunting melodies, and minimal beats to push the boundaries of sonic expression and redefine what « World music » can mean.

In an time of almost surveillance-like coverage of popular musicians, where artists are expected to be 100% available and known to their fans, there stands Burial. Antithetical to the social media era, William Bevan continues to be (mostly) a figure of mystery to his legion of fans.  

His signature sound transmutes a postmodern patchwork of samples – R&B vocals, video game soundtracks, field-recorded ephemera, and organic percussive elements – into a club melancholia that could only come from London.

Crystallmess transmits from Houston, where echoes of the GO SLOW, Eldorado Ballroom night curated by Solange Knowles still pulse through chopped and screwed rhythms, refracted through a Black diasporic lens. This live set traces a lineage of resistance and reinvention, folding Southern hip-hop textures into a dreamscape of memory and future. Infused with West African influences — a nod to Texas’s vibrant West African immigrant communities, the largest in the US. Expect DJ Slim K, Mike Jones, Point Blank, DJ Screw and Screwed Up Click mixed with 80’s Nigerian funk, Gqom and more.
