We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things - the Jason Mraz Album this song is off of - will forever be one of my favorites. To me that record will always sound like driving up to my grandfathers ranch with my friends when we were 16 and life was in one of its fleeting homeostases of absolute perfection.  This song is kinda like the shade that's on the end of those kind of eras, when things are falling a part bit by bit, but you can't help but to love them all the more because of it. As a song it wasn't a particularly hard hitter for me until I listened to the Raining Jane version. The stripped down simplicity of it just destroyed me, and I knew it had to become part of my arsenal.
 
I once drunkenly played this song to some people at the tail end of a party and made a few girls cry. That was pretty cool.

Jonathan Rolling is singer-songwriter who has a passion for high quality music and performance. He is now in the process of putting in the hours and doing the work required of a professional artist; mostly because it's become abundantly clear to him that music is something he must do. 

With that acceptance has come a lot of excitement and fear. It's a great thing to think that one has what it takes to have a viable career in music, and another thing to believe it so deeply that he or she subconsciously sabotages all other forms of stability. Good thing he doesn’t do that. 

While staying true to the style of the early 2000's singer-songwriters who first inspired him to play, he is also continually pushing himself to create a sound that is genuine, relatable, unique - and frankly just cool - all at the same time . A surprisingly large amount of artist find a genre or a style and get comfortable, or try too hard to be something that they aren’t, coming off as disingenuous in the process. He’s not trying to reinvent the wheel, but he is attempting to truly find his own sound with elements of pop, folk, rock, and hip hop. 

His underlying belief is that the best promotion will always be great quality, and that an artist and his music must truly be great in order to survive in the modern market. Fortunately he's up to the challenge.
