i'm sure i had a better mix, will re-record on my own studio one day when i'm not pissed up on whiskey :) true fact: some of the backing vocals at the end are me saying, 'Hon-da Hon-da Hon-da' like the car

Seems to be an endless repeated theme for me ~ running away to the countryside, and in recent years this has been the Australian wilderness, from the deep south to the far north.

Dedicated to, and featuring Gary Reeves (aka Mountain Songs) on drums and cymbals (remixed) at the start. Banjo, lap slide guitar (acting as bass), beats and vox by myself. This song is for Gary, who has been a wonderful musical compadre for many of us around the world, via this  Soundcloud Village.

Respect and acknowledgement to the Traditional Owners of the lands, waters and skies in this video, both in Australia and New Zealand. Particular thanks to the Yolgnu people of Gapuwiyak who made me feel so welcome during my short visit to Arnhem Land last year.

contacted me about 2 years ago and offered me a baseline stem from an Alpha Roots collaboration he was working on with Joerxworx. About 2 years ago, that is crazy! I, of course, said I would take the stem. I needed to finish some other songs that were in the works before getting to play with Alpha Roots’s baseline. By the time I was ready to connect with the vibe, Russia had invaded Ukraine, unfathomable tragedy had begun, and the world was changing again. My song writing reflected the horror of what was going on. By the time all the stems were gathered, vocals were recorded, and the song was mixed and mastered, another war had broken out and the horror continued. 

Massive thanks to Mountain Songs for  trusting me with these blessed Alpha Roots stems. So glad Jamie, Jonathan, Joerxworx, and Russ got a chance to work with Alpha Roots again. Alpha Roots lives on. 

And the song is ready just in time for Halloween!

Whenever we send Hans the demo of a new song, one of the most enticing parts of the process is that we never know what is going to come winging it’s way back from Hamburg.  We never try and steer him in any particular direction because we have total faith that whatever he sends will  be much, much better than anything we’d had in mind.

Quite often, once a week or two has passed and he’s had the chance to expand on his thinking, he’ll send another version, totally different from the first but always something equally as brilliant, causing both Tel and myself to ponder which one to post.   A quandary of the very best kind.  

Chris O is a multi-faceted musician who seems at home within any genre but there’s no doubt she is best known for her mastery of The Blues, hence the demo leaning very firmly in that direction…or so we thought  However, on hearing it for the first time, Hans heard something very different.  His thoughts focused on a simple piano / voice ballad, something we were certainly not expecting but which totally blew us away.

By the end of that weekend though, along too came the blues version, a delicious groove to which I couldn’t wait to add some drums and as those who’ve already heard it will know, that’s the one we eventually posted.  Nevertheless, the indelible mark imprinted on my sensibilities by the unplugged mix simply refused to go away.  Even though it’s precisely the same vocal, the pared-back accompaniment pushes it’s heart and it’s power to the fore and I felt that it deserved to be heard.  So that’s the reason we’re posting ‘The Love of Mrs. O’, phase two…

In closing, despite our retirement from active involvement here on SC, Cripple Club wanted to send each and every one of you our sincere thanks for continuing to support our work.  Your generosity of spirit and kind words always mean so much to the three of us.  (Gary Reeves)

This is the long overdue Corridors of Time/Time Circuits/Kingdom of Zeal arrangement I've been planning since I was something like 14 years old.  I never felt I could truly do it justice before now.  Perhaps I still didn't succeed- but I could not put off doing a remix of this Mitsuda masterpiece forever.  This cover comes from the heart, as the original Chrono Trigger track is a long time favorite of mine...  I realize that this is not unique to me.  The theme is popular as heck. Until recently it was the biggest piano in the world but now it's creator, David Klavins, made even bigger Regina. I got the chance to play The Giant in real life and I hope to get a chance to play Regina this year!

I've been waiting for a while to publish this!  This is for a collaborative Secret of Mana album from OC Remix called "Resonance of the Pure Land".  Here's a link: http://mana.ocremix.org/  I did two tracks for the album (this one and "Secret of the Arid Sands").

I wanted this track to take the listener on a beautiful, dreamy journey.  At first, we enter these overgrown woods tentatively.  Kind of timid, though perhaps somewhat intrigued!  It is intentionally unclear at what point we transition out of regular wilderness and into the titular "Pure Land", yet before we know it, we are suddenly immersed within its ancient magic and florid beauty.  I attempted to convey the textures, rhythms, colors and scents of an inviting, otherworldly glade, inside which, I hope the listener will feel soothed and enchanted for a brief moment.  I also hope that by the end of the track, the listener will have imagined something sublime and ethereal, whereupon they found themselves standing in that sunny clearing gazing up at the Mana Tree, relaxed and pleasantly empty.

I am a frozen statue, watching seasons come and go, feeling changes, doing nothing, forever...
Last movement of the rock symphony, where I pay tribute to, and play, my mom's spanish guitar.

This project used to be called "imaginary friends", but it became too real for that name, as did many of you.
