If darkness is simply the absence of light, can we love without outstretched hands to lovelessness?
For it's in darkness that these hands clasp at the floaters in our eyes.
The same hands that bring our souls up to our faces, so close you can almost feel its breath.
The hands of time,
of loneliness ticking on the clock.
The hands of tides dragging oceans,
how far we must walk on dry land.
Hands peeling off bedsheets like a second skin.
Putting on clothes yet never ceasing to be naked.
Hands on the hips of our devils as we dance,
used to caress in one-night stands with our demons.
Emptying wines in the presence of emptiness.
Clutching a compass though the path ahead is foggy.
Hands tapping awaiting the return of the sun,
only to grasp for the shadow it casts behind.
Hands covering eyes that catch a glimpse of the inner child hunched in the corner.
The same hands that count meanings in the meaningless.
Is it even cold or is it that my hands are shaking?
And is a fall really a fall if they never hit the ground?

In Sarah Jones' world, coincidences do not exist; every sound has a purpose. Her intricately-designed soundscapes aim to pull you inwards, providing respite from an intense world, or perhaps connecting you to your own for just a moment. She mixes ambient synths and spaced-out grooves with left-field beats and moody electronica to symbolise the co-existence of light and dark that is the human experience.

Anxiety: what does it feel like to you?
To me, it feels like being underwater. 
Struggling to keep my head above the tide, swimming against the current to the surface, hopeful... only to take a breath and get washed back down by the tide. 
I've found that the only way to remain sane is not to try to get out of the water, but rather to learn to float. 
We all need that breather, that escape. The life raft to stop us from drowning. 
Let it be this sonic poem.
Allow me to take you on a journey to my underwater kingdom as a way to take you out of yours. Just...go with the flow ;)

Does wondering what insomnia sounds like keep you up at night?
For this one I wanted to represent what goes on inside the brain of an insomniac. Inspired by the mind and bodily sensations experienced in the dark, may my frustratingly moody beats and intentional words help you to push through all that noise. Let me take you on a sonic spiral, along the strange and trippy tangents of thoughts, turning the sharp corners of your psyche until you eventually fall asleep.

According to Alan Fridlund, the only thing certain in the emotion field is that no one agrees on how to define emotion. Thus, music that is composed from emotion must be undefinable too. Yet, the question of genre and style is omnipresent in any club, scene, or session. As a society, we are obsessed with definition. Sexuality, personality, likeabiltity, fuckability, whogivesafuck-ability. In the music industry specifically, we are constantly pushed to define our sound. Whether it be literally creating high definition sounds in the recordongs and production process, or metaphorically defining what kind of music we “do”, How can we begin to define something as complex as emotion? Because that’s all we are. In our search for the definition, we are missing the beauty of the nuance. What if our essence is not meant to be defined but experienced, just like a music session. The low frequencies, the vibrations, the grimy, the gritty, the indesipherable, indescribable, chest opening, surprising. that’s the way I like my emotions, my music and my DJ sets. Not tucked away in neat, labelled boxes. just as there are disagreements on how to define the nature of emotions, I believe the same applies. Some call it ambient, some call it bass, some call it soothing, some call it shit. I call it howfuckimfeelingthatday, because my emotions, like me, are yet TBD.

Meet me at the intersection between pop and electronic music. When these two genres collide, I feel orange. The slow synths, the enveloping sounds, the mashed-up beats... today we are going back to what inspires me the most & bending the colour spectrum. I hope you feel orange, too <3
