Papa Adams and Sarah Lettes met on Craigslist. During the height of the pandemic, Sarah sent a message to the Craigslist universe looking for collaborators. Papa, a guitarist finishing his degree from home in Northern Virginia, responded to the ad. The collaboration grew in true 2021 style -- texting and sending voice memos back and forth for months before finally meeting in person. The duo shares many of the same musical inspirations, including Big Thief, Phoebe Bridgers, Wilco, Radiohead, and Gillian Welch. The name, New Insomnia, is a nod to the time period in which they created this music -- a time when the world was experiencing new kinds of restlessness and unease.
