What UIHHD?
It is an independent collection of instrumental hip-hop underground. The collection of young and mature, novice and experienced, but certainly interesting and talented young men whose work could not be seen.
The purpose of this book is only to show how hip-hop and what we are interested in hip-hop we can do. This is a look at that, when this culture has found a golden dawn and leaked to us by leaps and bounds has passed through the streets, entrances, neighborhoods, districts, minds. This is a derivative of the hiss of the old tapes in the recorder and the recitative of the dynamics of the time had not yet clear language, it attempts to write to the VCR first hip-hop videos, is searching for interesting vinyl records, a "Wild Style", is the emblem of Onyx on the fences and entrances, is scrawled on desks name of hip-hop teams in school ...

Science nerd meets earthy artist to make sonically lush dance music... Umm excuse me? It sounds like the premise of some independent movie but it isn’t. It’s true. Daniel R. Muller, a self-confessed lover of physics and visual artist Anna Hien make up the psychedelic electronic duo - Xanthopan.

A classically trained pianist and violinist, Daniel began his foray into dance music in the late 90s on Brisbane’s doof scene, attracting attention for his own brand of psychedelic electro. Never one to shy away from sonic experimentation, Daniel has spent years honing his sound into a unique mix of genres; creating music that spans breaks, trance, acid and electro.

Teaming up with Anna, an artist who paints trippy visualisations of music, Daniel’s sound is given an unexpected edge. Her lyrics, atmospherically delivered, are centred on the universe and what it is to be human. They provide a juxtaposition that distinguishes their music from the majority of contemporary dance. It is this mix of light and dark, thematically interesting but danceable that makes Xanthopan an accessible and diverse listen.

In 2010, Xanthopan released their breakout single “What’s the Chance of Being Wrong?” and the accompanying music video – an eerie but beautiful artwork shot by Laura Dudgeon –received airplay on ABC’s music video programme, Rage.

With a Melbourne tour already under their belt and a slew of gigs at Sydney institutions like Oxford Art Factory and the MIDI in the City events, Xanthopan are making their mark on the Australian dance scene, distinguishing themselves from the usual and wowing audiences in the process..!
