Is life about the destination or the journey?

With that dime store philosophy in mind here is the very first track I ever recorded at home. Although not the first song I had written, ‘The Witch Within Me’ was the first time I sat down to record something from start to finish with some effort. I was just a baby and had no musical idea, but you can already hear some elements that I’d develop down the track. 

About the song, it was 1997 and I was armed with an old Tascam 4-track recorder, a Yamaha keyboard (can’t remember what model), a shit microphone and my guitars (most of which I still own). The sound quality is actually not too bad considering.

The song is basically an attempt at a swampy blues rock – maybe a bit Creedance Clearwater Revival like. The lyrics are atrocious and I squirm in my seat every time I hear them. I guess it does have a bit of a groove to it. 

At the time I seriously thought this track was the greatest thing ever recorded. It wasn’t. Not by a long shot. Let me re-iterate, IT WASN'T. As such, I don’t expect anyone to really appreciate it, but to me it has a naive charm. It takes me back to another place and another time.

Anyway, for those of you that have enjoyed my music to date I thought it might be interesting to highlight my evolution whilst I finish off some new tracks. Keep in mind that I was a baby at the time of recording this. Have I come very far? I leave that up to you.

So much to my embarrassment here is my first recording.

From sun Tower III, this one is about being too close to a problem to be able to see it - let alone try to fix it...

I am not a musician but music plays a very important role in my creative life! I am an artist/designer and music is my companion and my muse in the long hours I spend working in my studio! 
I am immensely impressed and grateful for all the talented and inspiring musicians whose work graces this Cloud, and I will always re-post sounds that I love (and will listen to again) - knowing that others will enjoy them!
I feel slightly embarrassed and quite humbled when I receive such graceful messages of thanks from artists whose work I have re-posted - after-all, I am the one who is so inspired by the discovery of your brilliant music!!!
