Forging her own path as a first generation American of Zimbabwe heritage, Rita Mucavele, more widely recognized under her stage name of CANVAS, encompasses music in her very DNA. Currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia, CANVAS still honors her core roots of rhythm and rhyme, applying her culture to significant aspects of modern-day bass music and using her sound as a vehicle for powerful change.

Using music as a constant outlet, even her artist moniker holds weight to it, intentionally demonstrating the influential nature of the artist-fan relationship. In silence, time can be seen as a blank slate, but, when interpreted by the listener, the moment becomes something new entirely; a canvas rife with radical self-expression and meaning. No two moments, songs, or performances are the same, all painted uniquely by the individuals within the specific experience."

Inner Loops: The EP title alludes to the cyclical nature of human thought patterns and emotions. Our lives are cataloged by continual themes of self-discovery & acceptance, the dance of light & darkness, time, untapped potential, and angst.

Joppa was introduced to drum and bass 25 years ago and has been spinning its vinyl ever since.  Although he's heavily influenced by Phace and Misanthrop, his style is one in its own category and is always evolving.  After having picked up production a few years ago, he became involved with Flight Recording's A&R and throwing his own events.  He has regularly played many sought-after venues, like Konkrete Jungle in NYC and Philly and Camouflage in NYC .  Currently, he is working in Dirty Jersey productions and expects to launch a new nuerofunk label in collaboration with DJ Sect.  Although, Joppa has recently been focusing heavily on production, his first love is still spinning vinyl and wrecking the dance floor!.
