¿Acaso pensabais que los carnavales los inventaron los canarios y los brasileños? No hijos, no, esto de la celebración de la carne lleva unos cuantos siglos siendo tradición en la vieja y cansada Europa.
Lógico, en esos cerriles y retrógrados tiempos, el Carnaval era una de las contadas ocasiones en las que la gente podía lanzarse al barro y a la lujuria sin rubor alguno. Eso sí, todo ello condimentado con un elemento imprescindible para esas fiestas donde (casi) todo estaba permitido, la máscara.

Las fiestas masquerade fueron punto de encuentro imprescindible para entender la gloriosa decadencia de las dinastías sentadas en la poltrona del poder durante los siglos que abarcan del XV al XVIII, desde el final de la Edad Media hasta el Renacimiento, donde tuvieron su época dorada.
Y para celebrar uno de los encuentros favoritos de Goa Electronic Parties hemos querido rendir homenaje a estas fiestas, precursoras de los juegos de rol más lascivos, de las fiestas de disfraces más salidas de madre, y en definitiva, del ser otra persona, ni que sea durante unas horas.

Pasemos pues a desgranar el cartel que os hemos cocinado para esta "Goa Masquerade". Sin duda, será uno de los eventos más calentorros del frío invierno. Y las ganas que tenemos de calorcito, ¿verdad?.
No os preocupéis, el káiser del techno teutón y líder de Gigolo Records, Dj Hell, os hará arder en deseos de bailar con su irreprochable maleta llena de música de la que tanto os gusta danzar, Joris Voorn volverá a demostrar que el techno más pistero y envolvente nunca pasará de moda, el directo de Fritz Kalkbrenner os enseñará que las melodías pop facturadas con cariño y un puntito de melancolía no están para nada reñidas con los ritmos sintéticos más bailables, Pete Herbert y su amor por la new wave y el tropicalismo os harán bailar como si estuvierais en Copacabana en chanclas, Chris Duckenfield nos dará un repaso a base de la mejor house music de ayer y hoy (y mañana), Dicky Trisco nos enamorará con su ensoñador nu disco…pero no todo serán artistas foráneos en esta "Goa Masquerade", sino que también contaremos con lo mejorcito de la escena electrónica madrileña con la presencia del siempre gamberro y libérrimo Álvaro Cabana, con nuestro amadísimo Marcos In Dub, y con dos de los dúos que más están dando que hablar (y bailar) en estos últimos tiempos: la pareja preferida del sello canadiense Turbo Recordings, Borderline, y el combo castizo-sudoroso- pegajoso-afteroso por excelencia, Los López.

Jamie Jones launches his new subsidiary label of Hot Creations, HOTTRAX with a three track EP of upfront dance floor business. The label will be dedicated to a more underground dance floor orientated aesthetic, only for the headstrong!

 
This three track features phenomenal ‘Change’. Jamie has championed it all summer and as soon as you hear it you’ll realize why. It’s a heady hypnotic brew of oscillator-funk and ghetto-groove, arpeggiating synths bubble hypnotically under the rising ebb and flow of the melody as infectious groove drives you on.. the truth is we are all going through changes!

 
On the flip and Jamie jacks the groove on the ‘Road To The Studio’. Incessant chanting and looped vocals are cleverly layered upon each other creating a impending sense of explosive anticipation as the rhythm effortlessly builds to maximum effect. Finally, the irresistibly charming ‘No Rush’ plays upon retro garage feel while the minor keys serve to create a sense eeriness on the floor. A great closure to a superb three track EP, and what a way to kick off the new label in style. Watch out for HOTTRAX releases in 2013.

Guy Gerber guides us gracefully through a sun-kissed trip in the latest Clash DJ podcast.

After releasing on labels such as John Digweed’s Bedrock and Sven Väth’s Cocoon, tech-house wizard Gerber started his own label, Supplement Facts, in 2007, which proved the perfect home for his leftfield, considered take on melodic techno, allowing him to further explore experimental electronic leanings whilst also retaining a solid dancefloor pulse in his distinctive tracks.

Gerber’s Clash mix is a refined affair, full of warm, colourful house, stripped-back techno and some gently euphoric dancefloor sounds, perfect for summer listening. Featured in the mix are techno baron Ben Klock, the chameleonic Four Tet, bass-heavy house producer Midland and a blissful track from Gerber and Clarian, ‘Claire’, to round things off.

Wisdom of the Glove, Guy Gerber’s new weekly residency at Pacha Ibiza, takes place every Wednesday throughout the summer. On 12 June at Wisdom of the Glove, Guy will be debuting his live show with Mathew Jonson, when they play back-to-back.

Currently wowing Pacha, Ibiza with his new weekly residency, ‘Wisdom Of The Glove’ Guy Gerber has managed to coax only the most interesting artists such as Mathew Jonson, Four Tet and John Talabot deep into his surreal, otherworldly rabbit hole.

Not content with planning for the freshest Ibiza residency out there and embarking on an international tour taking in dates throughout Japan, South America and Europe, the Supplement Facts boss travelled through nine countries whilst creating an entirely original album purely on his Sennheisers.

‘Who’s Stalking Who?’ clocks in at just over an hour, demonstrating Guy Gerber’s flair for silky productions, deep soulful beats and bubbling basslines. More in common with an expert sculptor, Guy has long been renowned for his effortless production and detailed craftsmanship; none more on display than here, the achievement made even the more impressive by making original music whilst on the move.  

Hitting the UK for Krankbrother’s infamous Street Party on 22nd June with his own guest John Talabot, ‘Who’s Stalking Who?’ gives you just a taste of that biza magic that’ll be on show in London soon.
