Massive remix package alert!!
Whilst randomly flicking through his Itunes library Manuel Tur hit upon a
selection of remixes that have been made of his music over the years and
realized that, as well as many of them having gone criminally under the
radar, many are absolutely solid gold and all of them deserve to be put
together on one LP to showcase these beauties.  The artists involved reads
like a who’s who of underground house and techno with vintage names like
Pepe Bradock, Ian Pooley and Isolée rubbing shoulders with young upstarts
like Ugly Drums and Damiano von Erckert.  For those who are already
familiar with these remixes we wanted to make sure you had some brand new
and exclusive music to get your teeth into so added three brilliant
remixes of tracks from Manuel’s latest LP Es Cub to the package which is
exactly what you have here on this sampler release.
All three names need little by way of introduction, being Poker Flat
honcho Steve Bug, Feel and One Track founder John Daly and Innervisions
and Pets regular Aera.  All three deliver their own unique take with their
trademark quality and attention to the dancefloor all present and correct.
Steve Bug’s Remix of Ara Anam kicks off the release in classic Bug style
with clipped beats, simple stabs and that warmth of production that makes
everything he does work so nicely in the club.  John Daly is up next
ditching his more cosmic, spaced out deep house sound for a straight up
dub techno onslaught.  Not your usual Freerange fare of course but when
the music is this good who cares?  Play loud in a smokey warehouse or not
at all!  Finally, Aera gives us his spin on Agrafena, a twisted and edgy
track with crazy synths and stripped back beats taking us on a turbulent
magic carpet ride into the future. Or something like that.

Next up on Desolat is acclaimed deep house and techno pair youANDme with a new single that comes with remixes by label boss Loco Dice and label associate Pablo Bolivar.

youANDme is a collaborative project between Berlin based pair Martin and Daniel. They make raw, emotive underground sounds and Martin recently turned out a well received full length album that explored far and wide. They have worked for artists like Moodymann, Radio Slave, Seth Troxler, Lawrence and many others, as well as running Rotary Cocktail and 3 other mysterious labels. Their machine made sound is much loved by those in the know and no doubt will be this new single.

‘Take Away’ was written in summer 2014 with vocalist Black Soda from South Africa. It came after the pair worked on another track to such great effect that Martin played her an instrumental of this track and she immediately provided vocals for it that gave them both goosebumps.

The track is made from various hardware synths including the Roland Alpha Juno 2 and is filled with feeling. It is built on a bed of pinging drums and coarse claps, but the heaviness lifts with the arrival of Black Soda’s breezy, spoken word vocals and some colourful xylophone like melodies. It’s a proper underground anthem in the making, frankly.

Then comes Loco Dice with his version. It is typically chunky, with grainy, sheet metal claps, twisted vocals and skewed synths that all make it robust and masculine. Sure to be massive when dropped in the right club, it is a fine bit of work from the boss.

Pablo Bolivar then steps up to remix and flips the track into a more uptempo, gliding house cut with starry melodic patterns, punchy drums and filtered vox. It builds and builds to a peak and then implodes under emotive arps that are dotted left, right and centre, no doubt owning floors in the process.

We love a good duo here at DT. Batman and Robin, Torvill and Dean, Tango and Cash; we could go on all day. Thus, it gives us great pleasure to welcome in another double act of serious distinction as Luna City Express serve up the lead cut of their new EP for 20/20 Vision as our latest Debut Transmission.

The four track (and curiously titled) 'Smokin' Bull' EP offers a selection of dancefloor killers, but pick of the bunch for us here at Data Transmission has to be the title-track. With a loose, hip swinging bass line coupled with warm and powerful synth stabs and a memorable Rhodes piano solo, 'Smokin' Bull' will have feet shuffling and hands raised for the duration.

Set to arrive November 16th, we're hopeful we'll be hearing lots more from Norman Weber and Marco Resmann under their collaborative moniker in the new year with this EP sure to pick up plenty of play in the meantime.
