As summer fades and the days get shorter, Souleance have been hard at work in the kitchen cooking up their new EP ‘Tartare’. The French production duo of Fulgeance (Ed Banger / Musique Large) and Soulist (What The Funk? / The P Show) have delivered another EP of surefire party starters, taking the sample-heavy template of previous releases, and adding a deeper disco-house edge to stunning effect.
The 8-track EP opens with ‘Hustle’ - a clear statement of intent from Souleance - the shuffling synth-heavy percussion signposting the slight shift in direction, but with it’s sights aimed firmly at the dance floor. The track also features regular video collaborator Emile Sacre on keys and vocoder, this time in his music production guise as VECT. Many of you will be familiar with ‘Secoue’ (released earlier this summer as a digital only single). The Kompa-influenced track has become a DJ's favourite over the festival season and is now finally available on vinyl. Elsewhere ‘Ratatouille’ starts in more conventional Souleance territory with an infectious horn-led break, before developing into a Giorgio Moroder-inspired disco stomper. Also of note is the elastic bassline- fuelled ‘I Got It’, which displays a lightness of touch and subtlety rarely seen in dance music. This more mature sound, fused with the DJ-friendly identity of earlier releases shows the progression the duo have made since their debut back in 2009.
The artwork that has been a feature of Souleance’s releases is present again, with Alice Dufay providing stunning illustration in her idiosyncratic style. The EP also features two remixes - Debruit remixes the title track, blending the Souleance sound and putting his unique stamp on it - in his own words ‘an imaginary place where ancient West Africa cohabits with 80’s New York’. Finally Dutch newcomer Uffe takes on ‘New York’, retwisting the keys to create an MPC-style house groove - the perfect conclusion to Souleance’s best EP yet.

After leaving Montreal in 2015 to pursue music in Berlin, I have spent the last two years crafting my sound.The winters were used for experimenting and writing, and summers for busking on the streets. While busking during the Summer of 2016 a producer at Abbey Road Studios Berlin, Chris Dehli, saw me busking and invited me to record at their studio. What started out as a live session slowly evolved into the production of an EP, Cross Section, which will be released in March 2018. Here is the first single, 7th Sun.

Why LA BELLE VIE ?
Because when we first met, it was just a prefect combination: same tastes in food, drinks, music, arts, bullshits….
Then different crowds and collectives welcoming us  gave us back so much energy, something really kind & easy. 
We call this LA BELLE VIE, the "good life". From Poland to Austria, Athens to Singapore, Toulouse to Klaipeda, we realized 
how this people were sweet, how they did it great, everything was always so well prepared for us…

Who can live now from his own music, we know it's not so easy, but still possible, 
if you respect and love people, giving the best of yourself, staying honest, they will give it back to you . 
There's no better feeling and expression than La Belle Vie. Making music, friends, having a lot of fun, 
chillin' with nice people…All of these moments were a joyful experience to share.
Oulala, ça c'est la Belle Vie !

Following on from the success of their debut LP 'La Belle Vie' from earlier this year, the French duo have been busy in the studio producing La Beat Tape. 20 tracks deep, the release is aimed squarely at the DJs, with a succession of guaranteed party-starters. This is rounded out with some typically quirky interludes, jazzy beat excursions and blissed out trip hop.
Souleance are producer Fulgeance (Musique Large / One Handed Music) and DJ Soulist (What The Funk Paris?). Since releasing their debut EP (Le Monde) back in 2009, they have built a solid reputation for their idiosyncratic take on modern beats. With fans including Gilles Peterson, Danny Breaks, Lefto and Mr Thing, their debut album was the culmination of 3 years of beat-making, touring, partying and drinking too much Pimms. Whilst other producers would rest on their laurels after releasing their debut, Souleance got straight back into the studio to produce La Beat Tape - their sole aim to create tracks that they would DJ with themselves. The result is 20 tracks of pure dancefloor fire peppered with a smattering of chilled, lounge tracks in classic Souleance style.
Like any classic beat tape, variety is the key, and Souleance do not disappoint. La Beat Tape takes in heavy Turkish breaks (Sauce Samourai), Hammond funk (L'insouleance), tripped out western cinematics (Tout Doux), brooding jazz (Kipseli Street Interlude), Shadow-esque breaks (Strongest Love), Just Blaze-style horn-heavy hip hop (Como Estan Bitches), 80s synth-hop (Cocktail Time) and much much more.
The release is available as a budget-priced download with a limited edition 7" containing four tracks that we feel will be most useful for the DJs. With artwork by long-term collaborator Alice Dufay, it's sure to join their previous vinyl releases as a genuine collectors item.
