Wrote this while on holiday in Slovenia last summer - and took the photo very near where we were staying. Slovenia is stunningly beautiful and everybody was incredibly lovely!

I popped round to Charlie's place after work last week and strummed it through while he accompanied me with his lovely spontaneous electric guitar playing… and then, as luck would have it, I bumped into Jennie Howell in town on my way home from Charlie’s and she asked if I had anything she could sing on, so she came over and added some wonderful backing to the final verse!
 I added just a little bit of clarinet and strings.. (on the GarageBand keyboard).

OMGG went a little crazy even to consider reproducing this iconic Beatles tune ✨. But with deep respect for the original, the band thought it could be special to bring back that unforgettable feeling of the Beatles’ first landing in the U-S-A 🇺🇸🇬🇧.

🎛️ From the engineer’s corner: The sound was deliberately designed to be like stepping into a time machine. Instead of chasing today’s polish, the recording was made close to live, with limited fidelity, vintage-style mic placement, tube preamps, and period-inspired gear at First Cut Studio, New York. Every choice was about recreating the vibe of the 1960s — not imitating perfection, but chasing that raw excitement.

🎤 Mira, who opened the song, laughed about her experience: “I was having such a tough time with the high notes (haha) but yeah, well… you tell me if I qualified? 😊 Anyway, we love the Beatles and we love you. That’s all we do — we want to make music for you and sacrifice whatever we can.”

The result is OMGG’s way of saluting a classic, and hopefully carrying some of that early magic to a new generation 🌟.

When the state of people of the world seems out of whack, I take comfort in Mother Nature’s equinox, a day when light and darkness are in balance. This year’s equinox occurs on a new moon, a rare event and a symbol for setting intentions for new life with gratitude for blessings already received.

For us living in the top half of the earth, we will see less light until the passage of Winter Solstice. For friends living in the lower half of the planet, may you enjoy the coming of the light until it fully blooms at Summer Solstice. Until then, on the equinox, 22 of September, 2025, we jointly experience an equality of night and day 🌚🌞

While Equinox presents us with equal day and night, the song definitely expresses my personal sadness at the reality of light fading into winter in my half of the world. The diminishing of light also reminds me of Dylan Thomas’ poem, Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night, in which he wrote, “Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” So the music is truthful, and like all personal truths, this, too, will change. And can change as fast as a trip south of the sun-drenched Equator 😀✌️
