I was on the phone with my Mother one night and she was telling me that she needed some new music. My Mom has pretty good taste, so naturally I had to give her some good stuff.

I decided that I was going to make a beat for her instead (which sparked the idea for “Cardiology“). I ended up giving the beat to REKS for his “R.E.K.S.” record (it was supposed to be the final song on the album but due to studio session issues did not make it in time before the master needed to be submitted).

Turns out, without me knowing what REKS was writing about, the first verse of the song ended up being about his mother. Funny how music can sometimes be a literal translation.”

"Trojan" is a little something I wrote for fun a while back. It never really fit on any project and was performed just once live on radio at KEXP. Since that performance fans who had heard it would ask me at shows and online "when you gunna put out Trojan, man?" So fuck it, throwback thursday! 

"Trojan" was recorded in 2011 at Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Studios and is produced by Jack The Ripper with additional production by Teal.

Out Of The Cloud is some sort of full circle for me. It’s a disclosure from the last EP when we moved from the house next to the junkyard and a fabric that made coffins (from the period I wrote Jane’s Junkyard.) We moved to a village at the border of the Veluwe. I grew up in a similar village near the dunes at the other side of the country, so returning to nature has become a returning point to truly realize where I come from.

Out Of The Cloud is the transition between leaving all the bad things behind and moving on. Finally in nature again, finding peace, tranquility and balance in our lives. The isolation confronted me a lot for who I am. This mini-album is a metaphor for escaping and leaving super dense urban areas and enjoying and accepting the great wide open.
