Recorded Live at Burning Man 2016, Tuesday Morning Sunrise, on the esplanade at Camp Tectonic.  From what I can recall, this was, by no stretch of the imagination,  'A spectacularly beautiful experience...'   The Sunrise was absolutely stunning and the people were super vibe'n. What a way to kick off the week at Black Rock City!

I would describe this mix the following way... 

A danceable and bassline-heavy blend of quality deep-house trax,  from today and tomorrows most relevant producers.  Blended with a pinch of  'never released white labels' and  sprinkled with a bit of recognizable 80's pop and Synth samples.   Then finished off with a healthy serving of proper Sunrise CLASSIC'S, from years past. 

I hope you enjoy listening to this mix.   I sure enjoyed serving it up for you! 


Also,  I would like to thank everybody in the Tectonic Camp for hosting such an awesome space, sound system and vibe.  As well, thank you to all 'The Little Crack Whores' who hosted this Monday night. Ya'll sure held it down on the dust-floor from sunset, till way past sunrise...  #professionals

"This one time at Burning Man..."  ...you can let your imagination run wild with finishing that sentence.   ;) 

After 12 years of going to Deep End and DISTRIKT religiously for a 'Dusty Good Time', this year I was honored to be asked to play DISTRIKT, which was my 20th Burn  *)^(*.  

After waking up a little later (than anticipated) from a long night at Mayan Warrior/Robot Heart Hookup out in Deep Playa,  I raced over to DISTRIKT, where D.J. Boris Levit was holding things down nicely.  Before I even had a chance to take off my camel-back, Boris said, 'this is my last track'.   I reached around my neck for my FlashDrive containing my selections for my set at DISTRIKT, with my newest arsenal of secret weapons, and a handful classic gem's... but my Flash-Drive was GONE!   It had been around my neck all week. Apparently I left it in the CDJ's at Robot Heart the day before on the Art-Tour with Skrillex.   Luckily, I had a backup plan in place, and I remembered that I zip-tied one backup Flash-Drive to my headphones, and another one to my bike seat, just for this sort of scenario.   Because “Sometimes… Burning Man Happens"   

The Dance-Floor was just getting filled around 1pm, (well the bar was at least anyways ;)  And I played appropriately for my time slot. Direct from my soul to the dance-floor.   Not too hard, not too soft, just warm, groovy rhythms, designed to attract people to the dance-floor. And it totally worked!  The floor started filling up with happy smiling faces, the DJ Booth started to fill up with friends.

"Playa Magic" was in full effect! 

Playing music on That Sound-System for DISTRIKT, was absolutely exhilarating ....  and having the opportunity to warm things up for DJ Dan, The Scumfrog, Syd Gris and Peter Blick was truly an honor.  #Gratitude

After the smashing set by Oliver Koletzki recorded at The Monastery, we have another big one that came out to play. Greg, aka Thugf**cker recorded the first downloadable set on our SoundCloud for those travelling out on a long way home the upcoming days.

Greg, one of our favourite beings on this globe joined our family in July last year. He's been taking a road less travelled by ever since and is such a big inspiration for the team behind The Gardens of Babylon.

Psychedelic Love Affair 4: Deep Autumn

This mix is a very selective collection of some the grooviest tracks that I have have come across since Burning Man, 2018.   It is a very danceable, deep house dj set (not, in-your face, commanding your 100% attention) - It's a 2 hour listening journey of steady groovy rhythms.  And at times, there are some quirky and blippy, electronically produced sounds that have a slightly twisted and hypnotic undertone.   But I have to mention that the melodies are slightly intoxicating. They are, very sexy.   And they are just so frickin' pretty!  
I absolutely LOVE ALL OF THEM!  

So,   I really wanted to share this compilation, arrangement, and basically, my Art Piece, with all of you.  I really hope you enjoy.

                                       .....here is some of the work and history that went into it....
The progression of the mix was arranged, rearranged maybe 5 times over the course of two months, so that I could fit all the tracks I desired into this mix.  I also wanted to keep the progression steadily moving in an upward direction.  While making sure every track that I mixed,  was perfectly in key with the previous track, mostly to create a seamless and beautiful 2 hour groove session, but also to keep you guessing as to where the mixes start, and where they finish.  Good Luck with that!   ;)  

This mix has the potential to motivate your mind, inspire your soul, bounce your head as well as shuffle and stomp those feet.  It has for me for the last couple weeks.  So on that note, enjoy it loudly!

Joseph Lee discovered his love for music in the vibrant, eclectic atmosphere of San Francisco in the late 1990s. He became a staple in the deep house camps on the Playa such as Robot Heart, Distrikt, Kalliope and The Luna Art Crane, crafting immersive, sunrise-to-sunset (and sunset to sunrise) sets that connected thousands of burners in shared transcendence. His ability to curate soundscapes that mirrored the desert’s vastness and beauty earned him a loyal following both at Burning Man and in the San Francisco music scene

Love Parade and Cultural Advocacy

One of Joseph Lee’s most significant achievements was helping to bring the Love Parade to San Francisco. Originally founded in Berlin, the Love Parade celebrates music, peace, and community, with thousands of people gathering for a massive dance procession through the streets. Lee’s vision and passion for electronic music led him to advocate for and organize the first-ever Love Parade in San Francisco in 2004, inspired by curating, building and doing on this 50 foot silver spaceship art car ‘float’ for SFPride in 2000.
