UNDERTALE: STORYSHIFT is a reimagining of Storyshift, set in a post-pacifist timeline of Undertale. Many years after Monsterkind had finally been set free, Alphys suggested to her friends that they all dress up as each other for Halloween, playing off the whole "dressing up as monsters" thing that humans were still prone to doing. A lot of them really seemed to like the idea. So much so, that a certain ghostly, theatrical entertainment robot would be inspired to write a stage play for him and his friends to perform in.

Chara is meant to represent Sans. They lack a physical form of their own, being soulbound to Frisk, so instead, a mirror is placed on stage. Chara speaks through Frisk. It's not confusing at all to any of the viewers.

By this point, given the amount of time that's passed, most people know, whether they've accepted it yet or not, that Chara and Frisk coexist within the same body now. They're even the one who insisted they and Asriel be included on the dress-up party, which led to this particularly strange set-up in Mettaton's play.

In Mettaton's retelling itself, Chara lives a rather normal life in the Silicone Valley with their brother Asriel. As normal a life as that of a human adopted into a family of high standing can be, of course. They used to live in the capital city, but moved out to the Valley for a more quiet, unbothered lifestyle.

This is based on how I felt when I first saw this cutscene, blind. "C" is just sleigh bells there is not much to cover aside from the tone
Also, "C" I think is my favorite use of sound design in the chapters. I don't think any cutscene from deltarune has stuck with me as much as that did

RALSEI: Umm… Maybe? If you tell me what it is?
ROSARY: "Today is a day to be joyful, but for me it is very sad. Today is a day to be together, but for me it is to be alone. Her cheeks and stomach turn red with laughter and grapes. Her heart is captured by a man with no skin." Do you know the meaning of these things?
RALSEI: No, I can't say I do.
ROSARY: The King told me this thing. He tells me many things like it. Day after day, he comes to me to cut away the parts that are ugly. The more he cuts, the more beautiful I become. [She turns around] Do you not think I am beautiful?

ROSARY: Whether beautiful or ugly, the things I hear do not change. The King tells me stories of his love. Not just his love for the one whose heart belongs to him no more. He tells me about the man trapped in the white room, who has lost one and is losing the other two. He tells me about the child, their crimson eyes full of loneliness.
RALSEI: Crimson eyes… You're talking about Kris?
ROSARY: Yes, now that you mention the name, I do recall it… And with it, another name. Have you ever heard the story of "Asriel Dreemurr"?
