Rocketing back onto Smash Deep after the success of ‘Tell Me More’ and ‘Away’, Italian producer Zheno returns in shining form alongside David Zanellati with the nostalgia trip ‘Last Night a DJ Saved My Life’! 

Based out of Luxemburg and with almost two decades of DJ experience under his belt, Zanelatti’s productions have also seen him release on a smattering of international imprints as well as launching his successful ‘My House Is Your House’ radio show. Connecting on ‘Last Night a DJ Saved My Life’, the twosome’s creation gets foots stomping from the first initiating beat, the vocal twisting the iconic topline into a 21st century edit that rides a deeper wave. Enlisting progressive synths that, at first, dictate the darker build-up before building into a robust yet grooving melody, it’s a release that demands attention whilst also remaining uniquely individual. As synths flash forth and a push and pull of bone-shaking bass adds weight, the elements merge together to layer amongst an arpeggio of organ chords that burst out of the speakers.

Brace yourselves Smash The House fans, as the label releases the latest anthem to add to their ever impressive arsenal, this time welcoming Chemical Surf and Ghabe for the uber-catchy ‘Tell Me (ft. Mevil)’. Fans of the imprint will certainly be familiar with both acts, who previously teamed up for ‘Speechless’ on the label and have been making a name for themselves with their recent releases. 

Distorted tones sit atop luscious piano chords from the beginning of ‘Tell Me’, setting the early pace in anticipation of the vocal. Mevil’s low pitch vox brighten proceedings, serving up a catchy lead element that shines throughout the track. The bassline is bouncy and ensures that ‘Tell Me’ is as primed for the dancefloor as it is for the radio. The single balances between both very well and is sure to appeal to ravers packing out festival fields in the coming months as much as it is fans of the world’s best dance music stations.

Joseph Valor is a young DJ and music producer from Münster, Germany.
He began producing and DJing at the age of 13 and has been developing his sound ever since. Joseph values musical variety, which is why he works across a wide range of genres, from Afro House to Tech House.

At just 18 years old, he has shared the stage with well-known German DJ Noel Holler and later played an opening set for Alle Farben. This makes it possible for ihm to continue building his experience both in the studio and live on stage.

With a growing body of work and steady activity in the local scene, Joseph is establishing himself as an emerging artist to watch.
