Very nice varied bass playing. Great voice, perfectly matched to the song. Then very nice varied course and the end crashes again properly. Cover art also a 10/10. I love basketball so much. I used to listen to NBA matches on my Dad's short wave radio before they were on the TV over here in the early hours of the morning. NBA action was such a treat back then once a week too and that's what solidified the Dean Martin song in my head and I'll always associate it with the amazingness of the game. That's Amore! 🇺🇸

I'd say basketball is the thing closest to my heart since being a kid of why I love America so much and and big reason why it hurts so much to see the direction it's headed now.

The dream is contagious and the world has generally benefited from that. Ireland is a dream place to live and a similar land of opportunity so I feel very blessed for that. However, losing the obvious reference for that dream in America, which I would imagine is still the bar for many minds across the planet that strive for a free society cann't be a positive thing for the planet 🏀 Playing together, is way more fun. Let's not let a few mad wankers ruin that

Carl was next, adding his thrilling vocal part and coming up with his always brilliant lyrics. Ken jumped in after JJ, adding the essential, creative beat. Once Josh had a beat to work with, he added his upright bass, followed by his mandolin as a counter melody.

When it was all said and done, we asked Tez to produce it for us, which he did in his always expert fashion. As I mentioned, this is our third song with Beck, but we're already working on a fourth. She's a brilliant musician and perfect collaborator. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.

This song started with a moment at the 22nd Street Antique Mall in Tucson, Arizona. I saw a painted portrait from 1971 hanging on the wall, titled "Gorgeous Lady in a Portrait" , priced at $89. It was once someone’s muse and inspiration, and now it was just another object with a tag on it.
It got me thinking about time, changing value, and how a painting invites interpretation in a way a photograph never can. Somewhere along the way, meaning gets lost, people get older, and we all keep moving forward. This song isn’t just about her. It’s about realizing you’re getting older too and hoping that when you look back, perhaps you can cut yourself some slack.
This is an acoustic performance recorded in one take. After that I added a few backing vocals. The guitar you’re hearing is my Taylor 114ce.

We need to grow mentally as we age; no excuses.  Learn more about ourselves, our world – micro to macro - and our universe.  Without enough knowledge and understanding we can be easily manipulated, and it's easy to blame others and live within misdirected anger. This song started as a brainchild of Stephen, who's always good for a catchy rock composition. Not only is he a very talented multi-instrumentalist and producer, but a formidable composer, as well. Inspired by an old friend of his, Ringo, he wrote it on his guitar and bass, with the intent of sharing it with the rest of Eclectic Collective. 
  Josh was the first one to add to this project, doing his best to imitate Stephen's original bass idea, while still making it his own. JJ was next up, adding his playful harmonica to the song. Around the same time, Mark helped Stephen with some alignment and editing during the recording process. When something is misaligned in a project, we can always count on Mark to get it where it needs to be. Ken came through not long after that, though, adding his inimitable drums to complete the rhythm section. It was at this point that JJ added his thrilling organ and meaty piano to the mix. Tez sprinkled his magic next, adding the fiery guitar solo towards the end. Stephen also added some guitar fills at this point to thrill and build up to Tez's final explosion. Once the music was complete, it was Carl's turn to put the cherry on top with by singing his awesome original lyrics. 
  This is a great example of the Collective coming together to bring a Stephen song to life. We've done several others of his, similar to this, and have really had fun working on them, too. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.

Welcome to my page, my peers, associates, friends, and musical family. I'm a lifelong, multi-instrumentalist musician who records prolifically and joyfully. You'll hear me play guitar, electric bass (regular four string, and four and five string fretless), acoustic stand-up double bass, mandolin, banjo, keys (piano, organ, synth), lap slide, sitar, and sing on my recordings here. I've been in a few dozen bands in my life, playing everything from bluegrass, jazz, rock, jam band, reggae, funk, afrobeat, Middle Eastern, traditional Irish, singer/songwriter, pop/covers, to experimental/avant garde. 
  Since I found SoundCloud a couple years ago, I've found many talented, creative people with whom to create music. However, in the summer of '23 I formed a band called The Eclectic Collective with some of my favorite musicians I've met through here. It started as a loose collective of musicians and coalesced into a core group of musicians who find other musicians with whom we'd like to make music, then run their songs through our process, and in effect add a full band. That core of The Eclectic Collective includes Tez (Llanpsych), J.J. Terrel, Ken (K2 and the Three), Stephen (Texmex Shaman), Chris (cgmaness), and Mark (mistermark). A couple of other musicians are frequent collaborators, as well, including Artur of Surfers Like Us, and Steve Vervaet of Steve's World. More recently, we've been joined by Carl of The Beautiful Dark fame. 
  The magic of music is amplified exponentially by each person adding to it. So, we really try to add our sorcery all kinds of music from all kinds of artists. Sometimes, we keep it within the group, but a lot of what we do is collaboration with other artists. Therefore these days, 100% of what I do is collaboration, within the group or with other artists on the side.
  I, and we, are also available for hire if you have a song or lyrics and you really want to add bigger instrumentation or a band and good production to it.

I also really like and am influenced by traditional Iranian, Palestinian, Indian, Sri Lankan, Sudanese, Mauritian, Somalian, Egyptian, West African, and Syrian music. I welcome anyone who plays non-western music to contact me for a collaboration, too.
 I'm overjoyed to have found my community on SoundCloud. This is a truly unique forum where everyone is sincerely trying to build each other up. The profoundly supportive and positive SoundCloud community has really opened up an exciting new world of collaboration for me. That is the main reason I'm in the Cloud, actually, to connect with other musicians and make music that I enjoy listening to, and hopefully others do, as well. I am ALWAYS looking to collaborate with interesting musicians, mostly though BandLab, which is where I record almost exclusively. It's a solid, free digital audio workstation hub where you can share recording projects, even if it's not where you make your recordings.
  Everything I do is live instrumental, not programmed, and using no computer beyond my phone. That's not to say that I would be opposed to using that kind of tool, it's just not my preferred medium with which to paint. If you like my music, please share it.
