So how'd it happen?
How'd that dragon find its way?
Well it could be the dynamic was truly spermatic
The power gets jammin when bones set to rammin
The power leaves its lair, rises high into the air 
one and one now making two 
and with some luck through the action
of fermentational putrefaction 
the mix falls to rest in the mesh of the nest

The dragon is a serpent set apart by her wings
From the Old world to the New world
She's here there and everywhere
And it's not like Europe and the Middle East
And India and Asia all got together
And said "I know let's make a freak
With scales and feathers and a fiery crest
And 300 eyes. Let's make it a contest
See who can make the ugliest ass freakingest creature you've ever seen from coast to coast
See who can scare the children the most"...

Then some just drew him as a big long snake
But then others said "naw that don't take"
So they gave him stubby reptile legs
Or chunky bird or tiger legs
Sometimes two and sometimes four
With one big head, no, two or three
More room for 300 eyes you see...
And then they had to make him fly
So they looked up to the sky
And with their Googles scanning far
They surely saw him in the stars
Big Dipper made the body and a wing
And the other wing came from the bear
And the tail pooched out
And the head pooched out
Now, I know y'all think I make up shit
But there's folks who see him up there to this day
All up there on display
They do...

They reel, they wheel
The snake and the bird
Together forever
The portal of heaven
The cave of creation
The reel they wheel
The snake and the bird...

I must admit all de facto
That I relate to the draco
I've seen my fiery fate on the Babylonian gates
Carved in pictographs and painted on Chinese vases
My forehead all bejeweled and framed in fiery mane
But how'd the sky's favorite daughter become a creature of the water?
Leviathan, ye who spray the fire of the seas!

The mix fell to rest in the mesh of the nest
Split the eggs of the eagles
And out flew snakes with wings
Reptiles of the air
But the fish was still all up in there
So some fell to the seas
Became the whales of the seas
The great whales, so you see
So you see how mythology can truly mess your mind
But I divine
That all that is produced could never be set loose without the word
It has to be called out
And it has to be heard

Lately, been feeling isolated.
Outside, was masking like I've made it.
Inside, was hurting and deflated,
hating myself for the mess that I've created.
To be fair, it's much more complicated.
Fuckedupness cannot be overstated.
Got laid off, became dark and jaded,
anxious, depressed, angry and frustrated.
All contributing to my mentality;
bipolar, borderline personality.
Which often tends to distort my reality,
veiling myself from what is actuality.
But this time I need to be stable.
Prove to everyone that I'm able
so I can take a seat back at my table
and generate a happy ending to this fable.

This is a song I came up with, playing my five string fretless bass along with essentially a click track. I then invited everyone to share their talents on it, too. Ken (K2 and the Three, and K2 and the Four) came up with exactly the drums I was hoping for, strong and accentuating what I'm doing on the bass. JJ's (J.J. Terrell) keys gave it the character of a lighter, funkier jam and completely awakened a new sound within the song by adding a great, catchy riff that flows throughout. Tez (Llanpsych) added some magnificent guitar leads, as I've come welcomingly to expect from him. You can really hear his fiery guitar throughout the whole verse and first section, and at the end, too. Steve (Steve's Planet) added the vocals and wrote the original lyrics, too. His strong, creative singing really helped jump this into the category of a song, rather than a jam. He also showed us that he's willing to follow us anywhere creatively, and very boldly, too. Stephen (TexMex Shaman) added the wild, thrilling guitar solo in the crescendo section, as well as the guitar riffs at the end. He also brought the whole thing together by expertly and meticulously producing and mixing it. Ken and Tez both added some mastering to the final mix, too. We all hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we did putting it together.

In a basement completely sheltered from noise and the outside world, without telephones or internet, I was able to reasonably compose around fifteen titles without any interference. This isolation will remain a beneficial event in more than one way.

Dans un sous-sol complètement à l'abri du bruit et du monde extérieur, sans téléphone ni internet, j'ai pu raisonnablement composer une quinzaine de titres sans aucune interférence. Cet isolement restera un événement bénéfique à plus d’un titre.

Welcome to my page, my peers, associates, friends, and musical family. I'm a lifelong, multi-instrumentalist musician who records prolifically and joyfully. You'll hear me play guitar, bass (regular four string, and four and five string fretless), mandolin, banjo, keys (piano, organ, synth), lap slide, sitar, and sing on my recordings here. I've been in a few dozen bands in my life, playing everything from bluegrass, jazz, rock, jam band, reggae, funk, afrobeat, Middle Eastern, traditional Irish, singer/songwriter, pop/covers, to experimental/avant garde. 
  Since I found SoundCloud a couple years ago, I've found many talented, creative people with whom to create music. However, in the summer of '23 I formed a band called The Eclectic Collective with some of my favorite musicians I've met through here. It started as a loose collective of musicians and coalesced into a core group of musicians who find other musicians with whom we'd like to make music, then run their songs through our process, and in effect add a full band. That core of The Eclectic Collective includes Tez (Llanpsych), J.J. Terrel, Ken (K2 and the Three), Stephen (Texmex Shaman), Chris (cgmaness), and Mark (mistermark). A couple of other musicians are frequent collaborators, as well, including Artur of Surfers Like Us, and Steve Vervaet of Steve's World. More recently, we've been joined by Carl of The Beautiful Dark fame. 
  The magic of music is amplified exponentially by each person adding to it. So, we really try to add our sorcery all kinds of music from all kinds of artists. Sometimes, we keep it within the group, but a lot of what we do is collaboration with other artists. Therefore these days, 100% of what I do is collaboration, within the group or with other artists on the side.
  I, and we, are also available for hire if you have a song or lyrics and you really want to add bigger instrumentation or a band and good production to it. 
  A small sampling of the artists whom I consider primary influences, and whom you will hear coming through my fingers include Phish, The Flaming Lips, The Grateful Dead, Radiohead, Rye Cooder, Steve Earle, Miles Davis, Fela Kuti, Arcade Fire, Mikey Dread, Yellowman, Purpleman, The Meditations, Michigan and Smiley, Lee Perry, Dillinger, Django Reinhardt, Impossible Recording Machine, The Allman Bros Band, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Bela Fleck, Les Claypool, Sam Bush, David Grissman, John Prine, Talking Heads, Beastie Boys, MMW, Moe., Morphine, Ween, Steve Lukather, Michael McDonald, John Abercrombie, Dave Holland, John Scofield, Victor Wooten,  Cannonball Adderly, Thelonious Monk, Flea, Parliament Funkadelic,  Frank Zappa, Prince Paul, Pete Rock, Thievery Corporation, Amon Tobin, Chet Baker, Joao Gilberto, Stan Getz, Astrud Gilberto, Carol Kaye, Tame Impala, Mumford and Sons, Japanese Breakfast, LCD Soundsystem, Beach House, Sean Lennon, and Billy Strings, but of course there are many more. I also really like and am influenced by traditional Iranian, Palestinian, Indian, Sri Lankan, Sudanese, Mauritian, Somalian, Egyptian, West African, and Syrian music. I welcome anyone who plays non-western music to contact me for a collaboration, too.
 I'm overjoyed to have found my community on SoundCloud. This is a truly unique forum where everyone is sincerely trying to build each other up. The profoundly supportive and positive SoundCloud community has really opened up an exciting new world of collaboration for me. That is the main reason I'm in the Cloud, actually, to connect with other musicians and make music that I enjoy listening to, and hopefully others do, as well. I am ALWAYS looking to collaborate with interesting musicians, mostly though BandLab, which is where I record almost exclusively. It's a solid, free digital audio workstation hub where you can share recording projects, even if it's not where you make your recordings.
  Everything I do is live instrumental, not programmed, and using no computer beyond my phone. That's not to say that I would be opposed to using that kind of tool, it's just not my preferred medium with which to paint. If you like my music, please share it.
