трип are on an outrageous run lately. "I Wanna Go Bang" is the ubiquitous slammer we all know, Bjarki himself one of the tight coterie of hitherto-unheralded acts Nina has helped put on an international stage; gathered up on the label's 2xEP compilations. As well as the youngbloods, some more well-worn faces beloved by the boss have snuck their way onto the comps: and so it proves on TRP005, which sees the second cut from Detroit veteran Kelli Hand in as many releases.

K-HAND's "Sound 6" is, in short, an acid ripper. Resolutely mean and linear, the corrosive 303 pelts forward over a snapping beat with little pause from start to end. It harks back to the height of vintage Djax, another 90s Detroit stalwart; like we say, it rips.

Having previously had a long and deep history working in other genres, Solardo are unequivocally one of the most hotly tipped DJ/production duos currently refining their sound within the house and techno scene.

Their productions, which have found homes with esteemed imprints including Snatch, Roush, Resonance Records, Of Unsound Mind, and Kaluki Musik, have an unmistakeable high-energy sound, with this release proving no exception. The consistent quality of their output has already garnered staunch support from the likes of Jamie Jones, Richy Ahmed, Skream, Paco Osuna, Steve Lawler and Jackmaster to name just a few, and with supporters like these backing them it is no doubt that Solardo are a duo who will come into their own in 2016.

Released earlier this year on VIVa MUSiC as part of Detlef’s mix for the ‘VIVa Warriors Season 4’ compilation, Solardo’s track ‘It’s A New Jam’ received stalwart support from pretty much everyone in the scene in Ibiza over the Summer, an early indicator to us that these boys have a lot more to offer. It is with great pleasure then that we now welcome Solardo back to VIVa MUSiC, this time with a full five-track EP to bolster the rekordboxes of DJs worldwide.

Ransom Note's recent signing Bawrut has been making a bit of a name for himself. The wheels kept turning as the smell of rubber hung thick in the air. Inside the velodrome the riders whizzed in circles, ever closer to the finish line yet caught within the infinite loop. He had been cycling since 1994 and yet the echo of this space still game him the same caustic shivers as the first time he'd entered. The bright fluorescent lights lit up the shiny wooden stretch with a magical glow and the sound of cheers were the only motivation helping to drive him home. He kept pedalling, kept looping, round and round. 

Marlon Hoffstadt is a firm favourite here at Ransom Note, he recently launched his new label titled Midnight Themes and this track features on the first EP.

Fresh from providing Futureboogie’s pivotal 50th release back in March, Christophe leads the charge on the label’s annual Summer Riot compilation EP, now on its sixth installment.  On “West Side Critters”, a bold and brooding kick drum that the early acid pioneers would be proud of, tethers a malleable acid bassline to its stable pattern, whilst incessant cow bells, distant tom hits and metallic piano chords pep up the production for another class track from Christophe.

The Mexican duo, Zombies In Miami, have impressed for labels like Love On The Rocks and Correspondent over the years, and bring their own brand of spiritual dance to the Summer Riot party.  A collage of colour erupts on “The Legends Of The Hidden Temple”, with sitars, guitars, vocals and synths all weaving their magic over a chugging house beat with a bubbling acid underbelly.  

Formerly one half of previous FBR recording artists, Lizards, Lee Forster teams up with Ollie Warriner (Tunnyl Records) for a their new Forriner project, contributing the excellent “Spero” to the comp. Warming pads glide over lazy percussive beats, as a piano motif holds the breakdown before kickstarting the track to its glorious groovy finale. 

Bringing the Summer Riot VI to a cosmically charged ending, Yuki Tosaya channels the spirits of 1990’s ambient house in a superb track titled “Acid Dawn Breaks”.  Chugging, transcendental house at its finest, Tosaya teases 303s, piano riffs and cascading synths in a production that will no doubt see the break of dawn at many gatherings for a good while to come.

@KasperBjorke is one of the most acclaimed and versatile producers and DJs hailing from Denmark. Kasper has released five renowned solo albums over the past decade and remixed a wide range of artists, from Rebolledo to Weval.

French artist Marc Nguyen Tan released two renowned albums in the early 2003 and 2006 under the artist name @Colder_music on Trevor Jackson’s seminal label Output Recordings. In November 2015, Colder returned after a decade in hiatus with his third, highly acclaimed album Many Colours followed by two other LPs titled The Rain and Goodbye in 2016.

The two artists first started working together when Kasper remixed Colders single ”Your Kind” - and Colder in return remixed Bjørke´s track ”Marbled Blood”. The idea to take their collaboration even further was formed when the two of them met in person during Sonar Festival in Barcelona in 2015. In 2016 they then teamed up in the RedBull Studio in Paris for a three day improvised recording session.

The result is the Black Magic EP in stores on September 15th via @ThroneofBlood. A collection of five raw, driving post punk / new wave and techno influenced compositions, recorded via the studio SSL desk in Paris, using hardware synths and drum machines played through some exotic vintage effects. Colder recorded his mesmerizing vocals on the spot along with French drummer Julien Sabourin and saxophone player Thibaut Javoy.

The EP will be followed by a stellar remix package from The Golden Filter (Optimo Music), Mutado Pintado (Paranoid London) and French producer and dj Pilooski.

Dungeon Acid, bred in Gothenburg’s (Sweden) obscure music scene during the eighties and nineties, releases his second 7” on Höga Nord Rekords. Dog Acid and Sex Beat focuses on those remote corners where Jean-Louis Huhta have rooted his musicality. With legendary bands like Cortex, Anti Cimex and The Skull Defekts on his resume, Huhta is most definitely one of the most interesting artists in Sweden!
The music on this 7” breathes sex, concrete and dark seas.

Dark Entries and Emotional Rescue team up to further explore Psychic TV’s Acid House years. Psychic TV was formed by Genesis P-Orridge and Peter Christopherson of Throbbing Gristle with Alex Fergusson of Alternative TV in 1981. After various line up changes, the band shifted direction to dance oriented songs influenced by the House and Techno scenes of Detroit and Chicago. 

By 1988 the group included Dave Ball of Soft Cell, Fred Giannelli of Turning Shrines and Matthew Best of Carcrash International. During the summer of 1988 the group recorded a batch of songs at Time Square Studios in London that would appear under the guise of various artists compilations Jack The Tab’ and ‘Tekno Acid Beat’. The idea behind these ‘compilations' of imaginary artists was creating a sense that a healthy acid house scene existed in the UK. 

Virginia was the studio project of Dave “Mista Luv” Ball and then-wife Virginia “Gini” Ball, a classical violinist who toured and recorded with Siouxsie and the Banshees and Marc Almond. The duo had previous collaborated on Dave’s solo album ‘In Strict Tempo’ in 1983 and with the group Other People in 1984. The name "Blue Pyramid" was inspired by a photograph from Pink Floyd's album ‘Dark Side of The Moon’. Also at the time Dave was taking quite a lot of acid and came across some stuff ironically called "Blue Pyramid". 

Gini’s violin has an arabic feel, adding to the already bright and hypnotic dance rhythms. For this reissue we’ve backed the A-side with a remix from Bucharest DJ and producer duo Khidja who add more acoustic instrumentation for a world-beat psych-out. On the flip is San Francisco analog wizard Bézier who ups the tempo for some late-night peak NRG. The final remix comes from San Francisco producer and engineer Mark Pistel of Consolidated, Hercules & Love Affair, and Meat Beat Manifesto, who offers a slice of non-stop ecstatic dancing. 

All songs have been mastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The 12” is housed in a trippy, majorelle blue and purple die-cut sleeve with classic yellow Psychic TV skull label, all designed by Eloise Leigh. Each copy also includes a 2-sided 6x6” square insert with a photograph by Fred Giannelli of the Emax disc for Blue Pyramid, and liner notes by Dave and Gini Ball.

Two veteran miscreants of UK electronics have been drafted in by Dutch imprint Shipwrec for a 12” of techno debauchery. Cousins Rich Bevan & Josh Doherty, aka Posthuman have been addicted to acid from their first contact with the caustic and cruel chords of the TB303 back in the late 90's. Since then the pair have gone on to curate their own clubnight 'I Love Acid' for over ten years, as well as doling out a fair few toxic acid classics of their own. 
The duo deliver the soured goods once again, starting the audio anarchy with the ominously titled ”Netflix and Kill”. Drum patterns are gnarled and nasty in this slow burning jacker where basslines boil over into a thick syrup of late night revelry. The flip is taken over by the bullying sounds of ”The Damocles Syndicate". The track rumbles with venomous menace. Coils of 303 spite bulge and contract under the strict resolve of a stern beat in this ready made floor filler. Two helpings from two malevolent masters of the silver box - weird acid rave music for weird dancefloors.

There was a sweet sound which lingered in the pool hall, it was not the usual sound of Friday night violence and trouble from the boys but a bittersweet groove which poured through the speakers. One by one the players began to take note and decided to stop for a second. The green felt of each table was illuminated by the glow of a faint, dim light. It was as if they glowed a fluorescent green radiance set for the discotheque. The players moved into the centre of the room and listened carefully, it was time to move and dance. 

Sharif Laffrey knows the deal. A veteran producer with a penchant for house music of the highest quality, he returns once again with an extended cut of acid laden beats and breaks. All with a catchy sample.

Colm III - Take Me High (Mansion Mix)

The oldest track I have uploaded so far. I recorded "Schall" back in 1995...I stopped playing it (the original version) a long time ago but last weekend I did play it again and to my amusement and utter disbelieve - it went down in a storm. Nice one. So I thought some of you might like to find it it here...
PS: The vocal is sampled from "Adonis - Acid Pokin'" and I have no idea what it says!
