Atlas always wanted to set themselves apart from the crowd in terms musical choices.
In the early days the band consisted of just Harley and Ben with a passion for progressive metal writing songs together, they were both influenced to do this by bands like Mastodon, Opeth and other Progressive bands. 

With no equipment of their own, they made the most of their college's recording studio spending days at a time in there.
The two then decided to turn it into a full band project as it was something they felt very strongly about.
After many complications with past members and style changes, Sam 'Wilky' Wilkinson, from the thrash band Terebos, stepped into the role of Bassist.

Having been in a band for many years Sam approached this position with a certain level of experience and creativity.
Atlas found themselves dealing with the problem of trying that was recruiting a drummer with the same ambition, Harley found that the music he was writing was beginning to form quite a large collection and had changed considerably becoming more technical and considerably different to before taking influence from Devin Townsend, Between the Buried and Me and Porcupine Tree.
It was a good few months before the band found  a drummer who could bring the same drive and presence to the music but as it turned out he was someone they knew of for quite a while.
Billy Bridge who had been at college almost as long as they had, seemed like such an obvious candidate and  it wasn't until earlier this year he took the position of  Atlas' drummer.
He too shared the vision of the others to make a Progressive Metal band that would stand out and certainly has the ability to back that up.

Over the course of this year the band have recorded their first EP which was recorded at Ben's home, by borrowing equipment from contacts made through work and previous bands, they set up in the conservatory and living room in an attempt to create studio quality tracks on their own.

The band pride themselves on not having one front man who directs the band as each of them take equal roles pushing themselves to the limit of their abilities.
