Music is inconceivable without technology. The art of manufacturing AND the technique of eliciting a beautiful sound from the musical instrument. And so it is since thousands of years! I had to learn it when my mother gave me her "beloved violin" and I tried 13 year old boy to create a Violin sound.  With horsehair bow, pain ointment, by feeling and patience I managed this ... after 3 weeks! The sound was miserably. I knew I would never be a violinist! However the sound fascinates me to this day. I play the violin still sometimes when no one is listening. I worked again with young string musicians. Students. Girls and boys a youth orchestra and particularly I think of the students Matthias Niemeyer. We recorded my music and made a lot of violin samples! The sound engineer and I, we always had goosebumps when Matthias properly "made music"! Just why! Bach was constantly looking for excellent organ builders (for example, the Silbermann brothers), I am always looking for excellent programmers. Programmers who could conjure THE OPTIMAL sound of string instruments .... Using hundreds of Violin samples and complex processors technology. They work mostly anonymous, but they are true masters! Then I have to work on how I can use the sound "appropriate conditions" just as a composer. And how can I set the sound with my compositional technique correctly. Recently I found a master of sounds, virtually an "electronic organ builder"! Listen for yourself! Why the "string sound"? I dont know! Perhaps because it was invented over many centuries by thousands of musicians and continuously developed. As far as I know, at least since the 8th century in the Middle East. In Europe, the victory of the violins started especially in the Baroque and Romantic. Today it unites people of Asia, China, Japan with the Europeans and the Americans. This is almost mystical! Only to be compared with the piano sound. Today there are thousands of electronic sound patterns that impress me very much. But no one has this "eighth" dimension! The dimension of the soul - singing along.

48 Chamber of the Sages

Josh Kramer is a composer and pianist with roots in Ohio and Minnesota, and currently resides in Ankara, Turkey.  His music has been used in productions around the world including numerous tv spots, films, advertisements and commercials for the likes of Chevy, Burberry and others.  As a huge fan of artists like Olafur Arnalds, Josh was honored to have his music used in a series of major ballet performances entitled "Escaping the Weight of Darkness" at the National Theatre of Japan in Tokyo which premiered his music alongside Olafur Arnalds and Nils Frahm. Most recently, his song "Light in the Shadows" was featured by Burberry in their advertising campaign for The Kingdom collection. New projects and developments include his score for the upcoming short film "The Wagon", original music for the feature film "The Wake of Light", and the soundtrack for the acclaimed indie game "The First Tree", available on major consoles now.
