Just a few months after premiering Body Contact by Sim Fossil, the frenchmen from Mister T. records are back with a 2nd digital release. With this new EP by the British trio, Desert Island Disco, they unveil 3 balearic House bombshells to light up dancefloors and festivals this summer.

Brought together by a shared passion for timeless dance music, the Desert Island Disco are a British collective hosting parties between London and Barcelona. After 4 successful self-releases, they are stepping up production efforts, launching their first major EP on Mister T. Records.

With the Fighting For Truth EP, the boys have produced 3 summery tracks that reflect the different moods of the balearic aesthetic. When Glistening is the most dancefloor-oriented track and Fighting for Truth maintains a similarly seductive vibe, Lina steps slightly apart. We still find the essence of dreamy house, with its groove and atmosphere but Lina merges broader electronic and afro influences of the Desert Island Disco trio. Lina takes the listener to a remote place with floating flutes, melodic percs and lush vocals that gives the final touch of the release Balearic.

The badabing diskos crew digs deep once more and comes up with two downtempo indie-house monsters from label regulars Vinny Villbass and Sommerfeldt.

Producer, artist, sound guru and DJ Vinny Villbass hails from Oslo with releases on Eskimo and Trunkfunk. He has also worked with experimental electronic artist Pantha Du Prince and is a versatile performer and musician. Here he works with Sommerfeldt who has previously worked under various aliases on acclaimed labels such as Paper Recordings and Full Pupp. He is an equally prominent figure of the Oslo club circuit and both of these new tracks came together while eating basement fish (fermented trout that's been cooking in a bucket of brine in a basement for two months) in a wood cabin somewhere in the Norwegian mountains during the pandemic of 2021. Opener 'Back in Time' leans backward in both rhythm and harmony and creates plenty of space for its heavy claps and hypnotic vocal cuts. This alluring and artful groove is perfect for both sunlit beaches and dark clubs alike. As always with this label, it's a track that oozes musicianship and class. The equally fresh 'Basement Fish' goes even deeper but explores harder energies as disharmonic analog synth mayhem is held together by rhythmic vocals from the ever-amazing Toshybot who was once part of late 90s supergroup Tøyen. It's a rugged groove with tripped-out synth effects designed to bring all new vibes to the dance floor. Vinny Villbass & Sommerfeldt have hooked themselves a couple of beauties for this EP. Short and punchy 140+ bpm percussive, dancefloor ready killer zouk from the 1985 release by Group Ayé. Some cheesier vocals and instrumentals have been removed with most of the track centring around the ending of the original and various drum breaks found throughout. Record loving selector DJ based in London (and formerly Edinburgh). I love sticking my head in crates and learning more about the amazing music that can be found across the world. 

I'm a bit of retro zouk specialist (checkout my zouk show on My Analog Journal for more) but also have a great interest in soca, highlife, makossa, PALOP music, bubblegum, kwaito, latin freestyle and beyond - I enjoy celebrating globally sourced groovy records to fill dancefloors, and deliver an experience that makes club goers smile while they move

My mission is to spread this wonderful music and the talented artists that contributed to its creation with as many as people as possible! 

I run a clubnight and reissue / edits label along with a few friends called “Discothèque Tropicale”. Music to bring the boogie, fill the floors and put smiles on faces! 

I do the programming for London based radio station LOOSE FM where I also run the radio shows ‘The Listening Bar’ & 'Musical Backpacking' focussing each show and the record digging on a specific genre, theme or area.
