Solo Tamas and Eli Brown are two new, fast rising talents who have been snapped up by the ever on point Moon Harbour for a fantastic two track EP that really establishes their sound. 

Solo Tamas is a DJ, vocalist and producer with ties to Elrow, Sola and Repopulate Mars and in just over a year has quickly started turning heads with his characterful sounds and DJ style. Here he links with the UK’s Eli Brown, another new school artist very much in the ascendancy thanks to big tunes on Relief and Toolroom and high-profile gigs at places like fabric. Their unique enthusiasm and energy shines through in the two off kilter tunes they serve up here. 

First up is the fresh and popping ‘Lucky’, which has girding bass dipping down low and sweeping you up off your feet. Clever filters and FX bring edginess, as does a well-treated vocal and unhinged synth line. It’s colourful and quirky house music designed squarely for the floor and is sure to get huge results. 

Then comes the big ‘Call Me When’, a driving and unrelenting track with elastic drums and stark hits all making you move. More taught vocals and subtle melodic elements are stitched in to make this a peak time, high impact track that never lets energy levels dip. 

These are expertly designed dancing tunes from two of the best young names in the game.

Toolroom’s Dateless joins up with Jamie Jones’ Hottrax this November with three upbeat cuts entitled ‘Shoes On EP’ including a remix from Hot Creations’ Bontan.

In recent years Dateless has steadily emerged onto the house music scene with sought-after releases on Food Music, Dirtybird, Riva Starr’s Snatch! and many more. He’s garnered support from the likes of BBC Radio 1 DJs Danny Howard and Annie Nightingale, as well as appearing on line-ups with Green Velvet, Claude VonStroke and Shiba San. He now joins the Hottrax family with his ‘Shoes On EP’ following the likes of Kevin Knapp, Patrick Topping, Waze & Odyssey and label boss Jamie Jones. UK based artist Bontan puts his signature sound to an engaging remix after previous outings on Crosstown Rebels and Circus Recordings.

‘Shoes On Please’ provides dashing kick drums with fluid basslines bouncing off layered elegantly with an attractive vocal line undulating throughout. Bontan’s remix of ‘Shoes On Please’ offers delightful atmospheres with emotive synth melodies, fluid percussion and enchanting breakdowns. ‘Who Are We’ then finishes things off with playful, tribal drums balanced with dazzling rhythmic stabs and euphonious flutters.

Manchester’s REME joins up with Jamie Jones’ Hottrax to release three rolling house cuts entitled ‘Juarez Avenue’. 

REME is the latest house music producer to break through Manchester’s new wave of talent. He began his musical journey playing at the renowned party series MVSON before delving into his own productions which were later displayed in a split release with Mason Collective and Henry Jacobs on 90watts. His creative and vibrant energy is naturally reflected within his own music which garnered support from the likes of Marco Carola, Jamie Jones and The Martinez Brothers over the summer. ‘Juarez Avenue’ sees the Mancunian artist join the Hottrax roster alongside the likes of wAFF, Waze & Odyssey, Kevin Knapp and Mark Jenkyns. 

‘Juarez Avenue’ sets the tone of the EP with fluid low end, acid infused synth sequences and delicate drum patterns before minimal aesthetics are displayed in ‘Mystery’ through sharp bass stabs, playful chord progression and warming pads throughout. ‘Duff Duff’ then brings things to a close with muffled drums, a crunchy bassline and dub-tinged sound design.

Rising star Ben Sterling has already garnered huge support from label co-founder Jamie Jones. Moving into 2019, the talented youngster makes his debut on Hot Creations, delivering three punchy, high-octane tracks this February.

The EP kicks of with Surrender - a track that shows no mercy with its heavy drums, hedonistic vocal hooks and a rolling groove. On title track The Energy, Sterling layers breathy vocals over a driving bass, perfect for those 3am losing your mind moments. EP closer, Apathetic Behaviour, is pure unadulterated after-hours fodder.

One of the original residents of Josh Butler’s Origins series, Ben Sterling has had tracks signed to Butler’s label of the same name where he joined greats such as Kerri Chandler, Groove Armada and Huxley. Last year saw the young DJ play at the infamous Warehouse Project alongside KiNK, Dennis Cruz, Patrick Topping, Richy Ahmed and Marquis Hawkes. He’s performed at some of dance music’s leading events including Paradise, Elrow and Kaluki. In 2019, Sterling shows no sign of slowing down with events already locked in for Printworks, Hideout and Snowbombing.

Rhythmic patterns arise from the overlapping rotation of planets around the sun. These rhythms are harmonic and dissonant. They create beginnings and apocalypses. They are silent and loud. They glide through dark matter of the cosmos like chemicals down a funnel: merging, collapsing, morphing, exploding.

Out of all these planetary movements, there is one couple that has shaped the sonic matter of Alquimia Solar: the mystical encounter of Mercury and Neptune. These planets inhabit the thresholds of the solar system. They intercept the full electromagnetic spectrum of the sun and a myriad of mysterious signals from the vastness of outer space. Mercury flows like liquid, as the metal of thought, materializing fiction into form. Neptune orbits cold, like a supercomputer of the spirit realm, conjuring worlds, simulating impossible physical laws.

what happens when these two planets cross paths? When liquid metal spills into an absolute-zero dream-chip, when cold meets heat, when illusion greets matter? Santi explores these questions in a language more ancient than words.

Subsonic frequencies disrupt the fabric of space. Incessant noise bends the linearity of time. Viscous harmonies entangle the cosmic swirl. Geplantes Nichtstun and Acid Pauli join Santi and fuse their own potion to the mix in this ever-changing solar alchemy. Jan Kalab's "Blue Sun" in the cover art captures the intersection of elements depicted in this album.

Adam Beyer returns with his first solo EP in five years.

The Drumcode founder is measured when it comes to signing music to his own imprint, biding his time till the stars align. His last individual outing was 2015’s ‘Stone Flower’ EP, which included the thrilling label favourite ‘What You Need’. A succession of classy collaborations followed, linking with DC’s most vital artists highlighted by ‘Your Mind’ with Bart Skils, proclaimed one of the best tracks of the last decade by Mixmag.

An EP that gives a nod to uncertain times, while remaining resolutely positive, ‘No Defeat No Retreat’ was written during Beyer’s fruitful production sessions during lockdown. The opening track, ‘Park People’ sets the pace with an energetic, 80’s new wave creating the track’s spine. Its hypnotic energy stems from a powerful synth riff and vocal sample culminating in a skilfully balanced track that neatly combines the old with the new. The title track is a study in contrasts, deftly crafting a muted, nagging vocal hook and infectious bassline into a slice of forward-facing, edgy techno. With its subtle, undulating layers of melody building in the background, it ushers in an understated sense of euphoria, making it a perfect end-of-set mood-maker. A thrilling return!
