Josh Butler - Dreamweaver 

Over the past five or six years Josh Butler (@joshbutler), the man from the North of England, has built an enviable career from his polished, slick house sound. Releases on stalwarts like Rejected and Hot Creations along with a residency at Sankeys Ibiza, speak to his quality, and this new release on Poker Flat continues his ascendant trajectory.

'Dreamweaver' is a four track EP stuffed full of powerful tracks destined to light up floors worldwide. The title track is a tough rolling house tune, with crisp, punchy drums and a hypotonic bass pulse. The narcotic vocal snippets place this deep into the late night selections.

'Through You' is also on the tougher side. A jacking beat kicks it off before some jazzy, chicago style stabs set the tone. Snippets of soulful vocals interwoven with a metallic, funky melody, bring the whole track into focus.

'Say Something' also contains a well chosen vocal, coupled with a taut groove that showcases Butler’s ear for space and dynamics. 'Movement' shares a similar aesthetic - Butler finding space amongst the various elements for the groove to work its magic - tech leaning house music for the summer nights.

Seth Troxler’s definitive dance floor label Play It Say It has a real coup for their next single: a collaborative track from trendsetting and globally renowned brothers Nic Fanciulli and Mark Fanciulli, one that is likely to become an anthem for the months ahead.

The high impact ‘Star’ is the sort of big, muscular main room tune that blows crowds away. Built around barreling drums and rubbery bass, the track is brought to life with a classic vocal sample from Rose Royce’s 1978 hit ‘Wishing on a Star’ that truly sets the whole thing on fire. Creeping synth sounds add another edge to things and the results are sure to sweep up even the biggest of dance floors.

The superb dub version has even more focus on the monstrous drums and allows the synths to breath that bit more for extra euphoric effects. This is a brilliant pairing and it's no surprise the prominent brothers come up with some real house heat here.

Jamie Jones returns to his Hottrax imprint for a various artists release entitled ‘Paradise’ including productions from Kiki, POPOF and Rafa Barrios. 

Named after his respected Ibiza party series, 'Paradise' marks the Hot Creations founder’s first original solo material on Hottrax since launching the label with 'Change' in 2013. Joining him is three more respected producers; Finland’s Kiki, who’s made recent appearances on Exploited; heavyweight Parisian techno producer and recent Mindshake and MOOD signee POPOF; as well as Spanish artist Rafa Barrios, who’s recently released on Sola and Stereo Productions. 

‘Under My Control’ sees Jamie Jones open with cowbell and video game-like effects which bounce hypnotically in and out, offset by a darker rumbling bass. Utilising a similar retro aesthetic Kiki meshes bright synths with electronic bleeps on ‘ALT/TUDE’ until you level up on POPOF’s ‘Nowhere 2 Go’, a cut driven by a groovy bassline, looping vocals and an 8-bit breakdown. Finishing up, Rafa Barrios mixes a bubbly acid melody with shuffling high hats and shimmering atmospherics to create ‘Lawless’.
