Currently enjoying another scorching summer spell-binding audiences, touring South America and playing some of the best festivals across Europe, Valencian soul stirrer Edu Imbernon takes time to make a return to John Digweed’s perennial Bedrock with two outstanding compositions. Evocative, poignant and just on the right side of epic; we guarantee these tracks from the Fayer Records boss will have your dancefloor like emotional putty in your hands. 

‘Indenait’ takes the lead with soft guitar plucks, harmonics and stately 4/4 drive that sets the scene for the rainbow of twinkling vapour trails that follows. A crisp, mournful arpeggio then takes the lead on the breakdown, bringing with it a whole new level of heavy heartedness. A sunrise moment guaranteed.

‘Love Attack’ follows suit with a rising sense of palpable urgency and yearning. But this time it’s developed over a slightly pacier, shuffled rhythm that eventually builds into full rolling breakbeat. Backed up with bulbous subs and sinewy acid lines that weave the synth elements together, once again Imbernon drives us into a moving melee of emotions and feelings that explodes on the eventual pay off. 

If you’ve heard John or Edu play any time in the last few months, you’ll already know just  how exhilarating these tracks truly are. Designed for long scorching summers, built to last forever; this is the timeless music that Bedrock has built its name on.

Deeparture has been a steadily rising influence across the underground dance scene. Returning to Proton Music, "Embraer" showcases a brand-new track alongside a pair of new remixes.

A Dutch artist with an increasingly impressive portfolio, Dominique Vijverberg has become a regular on some of the finest underground imprints with his Deeparture production moniker. Supported by such illustrious names as Hernan Cattaneo, Guy Mantzur and Eelke Kleijn, Strange Town Recordings, ICONYC and One Of A Kind have featured Deeparture's distinctive melodic sound. May 2017's "Flight of Imagination" witnessed a sparkling twin-track original debut on Proton Music and it is a pleasure to welcome Deeparture back with the beautifully crafted "Embraer". Skipping along with prominent off-beat percussive cadence and strong kick, a sustained bassline makes for the perfect vehicle to showcase a searing analogue lead-line that is reprised effortlessly throughout the track. Simultaneously, a swathe of counterpoint melodies found in the shape of pads and arpeggios, create a rich sonic collage against which to demonstrate Deeparture's growing talent.

Iconic Brazilian artist, Andre Sobota, has been at the vanguard of the electronic music scene for a number of years. Able to adapt to any musical style, Sobota crosses genre boundaries with ease, witnessed by an official remix of Coldplay and Rihanna and 500 production credits sitting proudly for the likes of microCastle, Toolroom and Anjunadeep. It is with Proton Music that Andre Sobota has continued to be a long-time friend – from "One Day Out" to "Unmute" and, most recently, with June 2018's "Robots", Sobota has shone brightly on the label. Remixes of Ryan Davis, Silinder and Magitman are now joined by a trademark sound delivered on his rerub of "Embraer". Cleverly using Deeparture's melodic lead line to stunning effect, Sobota's skill is to build a chorus of new production material around it that revels in pounding beat and immaculate sound design. White-noise effects create a shaker-like effect and a hallmark bass groove is a joy to behold, erupting post-breakdown into a wall of sound.

Venturing out on his own after success as part of duo, Progress Inn, Janko Dragovic's Desaturate soubriquet has seen no let-up in success. Contributor to the "Wildwood" podcast series and voted "Best Progressive DJ in Western Australia" for two consecutive years while living there, Desaturate has seen his production work signed to the likes of Balkan Connection, Particles and One Of A Kind, with increasing frequency. A regular on Proton Music over the past 12 months, January 2018's three-track "Wanderer" EP was a notable highlight hot on the heels of remixes of Nocturna and Pete K. Returning with an impressive take on "Embraer", a thumping beat and syncopated rhythm section provide the perfect backdrop for a growling bassline and pads, rooted firmly in Deeparture's original, to coruscate throughout. Building into a dancefloor destroyer, a gated version of the central melodic theme makes its presence felt and an inimitable blend of mature additional production material takes "Embraer" on an exciting new path.

With dramatic remixes from Andre Sobota and Desaturate, Deeparture's "Embraer" takes flight on a voyage of discovery.

Unser Autor Simon Rucker von unterwegs-reiseblog liefert heute die Fortsetzung zu seiner komplexen und vielschichtigen Dystopie, die auf den ersten Blick an Ereignisse aus dem Geschichtsunterricht erinnern mag. Eine neue Figur betritt heute die Bühne und scheint Lichtbild und Schattengestalt zugleich zu sein. Auf seinen Schultern liegt eine schwere Last und sein Kopf ist voll mit düsteren Gedanken. Die pochenden Fragen, die unerbittlich die Schädeldecke malträtieren, werden musikalisch von unseren heutigen Gast Rauschhaus porträtiert. Sein Beat gibt den Takt der Gedankenblitze des Protagonisten wieder und entwirrt das Chaos, um uns einen Blick hinter die Kulissen dieser Szenerie zu gewähren.  

Spät am Abend sitzt Jacek Prym allein im weißen Sessel vor den Panoramafenstern der Präsidentensuite des Hotels Ancien Art am Grand-Place. So hat er sich das nicht vorgestellt. Er dreht das Glas Lagavulin langsam zwischen seinen Fingern hin und her. Die dunkelbraune Flüssigkeit bricht sich in den Kristallen. Tief unter ihm die Lichter der Großstadt. Er hätte sich nicht vorstellen können, wie einsam es ist, ein Präsident zu sein. Der erste Präsident. Der erste Präsident eines neugeborenen Staates. Bald Vater eines neugeborenen Kindes. Sein junges Alter ist Teil der neuen EU-Policy. Zwischen den Lichtern sieht er sein Gesicht. Es spiegelt sich in den dicken Scheiben. Wenn man genau hinschaut, bemerkt man, dass er gar nicht mehr so jung aussieht wie in den Streaming-Aufnahmen. Er selbst bemerkt es. Obwohl man in seinen eigenen Augen ja eigentlich niemals, niemals, niemals altert. 
Verantwortung. Ein großes Wort. Ist es das, was er nun für das alte Europa hat? 8.000 Kilometer weiter südwestlich fegt ein trockener staubiger Wind über die kahle Ebene. Dort in der Ferne sind die Reste der Wolkenkratzer von Downtown Manhattan zu sehen. Nichts, aber auch gar nichts ist übrig geblieben von den nordamerikanischen Staaten. Ihm liegen hier Informationen vor, die der Mehrheit der Menschen nicht einmal ansatzweise bekannt sind. Dennoch… Ob der völligen Auslöschung nahezu aller Menschen, Tiere und Pflanzen und sämtlicher Infrastruktur eine gezielte Aktion des Ostens vorausging oder ob sie auf einen endgültigen Kollaps der Energiesysteme zurückzuführen ist, weiß nicht einmal er zu sagen, falls das überhaupt jemand weiß. Zwar hat er seine Vermutungen, doch er würde sich hüten, damit etwas anzufangen. Gelegentlich werden aus dem nordamerikanischen Ödland Survivors geborgen, die haarsträubende Berichte abliefern. Offenbar sammeln sich überlebende Banden in Camps enormer Ausmaße. Aufklärungsdrohnen können das bestätigen. Viel Budget wird in die Missionen zur Klärung der Zustände im Ödland nicht mehr gesteckt. Es ist anderswo viel dringender nötig. Von systematischen Misshandlungen, widerwärtigen Machtsystemen und scheußlichen Mutationen ist die Rede, wenn Survivors geborgen werden. Doch das ist dieser Tage nicht Fokus seines Grübelns. Jacek Prym weiß, dass die Nordhälfte des amerikanischen Kontinents verlorenes Land ist, er hat anderes zu tun.
