Gordon Johnson has always held an infectious enthusiasm for music. Heavily influenced by the house scene of the mid 90's, the Dublin native took his first tentative steps towards a Dj'ing career at the tender age of 13 - purchasing a set of belt drive decks in a move that would irreversibly change how he treated - and indeed listened to - varying genres of music. 

Fine-tuning his craft through a combination of dedication, passion and incessant practice, it wasn’t long before Gordo craved a method to further showcase his skills outside of the converted garage that soon became his second home. The golden era of Irish pirate radio station provided a fitting pedestal for the confident teenager - granting Gordo a weekly audience with which to display his by now well-refined talents. So successful was his mid-week residency that to this day, his name is still fondly remembered amongst many a Dublin clubber as the man who first introduced them to electronic music. 

It was Dj'ing live however, where Gordo really earned his credentials - and playing at a series of the cities various under 18 gigs proved an ultimately shrewd move. Not only did Gordo learn how to tactically read a crowd, he also learnt how to deal with the pressures of Dj'ing to a demanding audience – invaluable experience that would stand him in good stead in the intervening years. Having rapidly garnered a credible reputation amongst Dublin's ever-flourishing music scene, it was only ever a matter of time before the capitals more refined clubs soon courted the talented youngster. 

And so began the start of a high profile residency at Dublin's renowned Krystle nightclub. Spotted by the clubs canny promoters, he joined the Dublin club in early 2007 and quickly established a reputation as one of Dublin’s most talented jocks. It’s no coincidence then that his reign at the club has coincided with the nightspots most fruitful period to date - with Krystle being awarded the illustrious title of ‘Best Irish Nightclub’ in Gordo’s very first year behind the decks. Proving he’s not one to musically rest on his laurels, the same accolade was again bestowed on Krystle in both 2008 and 2010, proving that the clubs most vital ingredient – the music – has remained at a consistently high level since Johnson’s arrival. 

In between such success, Gordo has also firmly established a reputation as the ‘go-to-Dj’ for many a global brand in Ireland - with L’oreal, Red Bull, Etihad Airlines, Smirnoff and Paramount all calling on his services. Aside from corporate gigs, Gordo also supported British chart topper Calvin Harris on his recent Irish tour in both Waterford and Cork, while high profile festivals such as Life and the Oxygen festival (where he opened the Dance Arena on two successive years) have both played host to his diverse, energy fueled sets. 

Global appearances meanwhile, have brought him as far afield as Ibiza and Thailand, while his own night, 'Dizzy Dizko', has featured performances from the likes of Style of Eye, Defex, Altern8 and Dave Seaman - proving Gordo’s as adept at recognizing talent as he is working the CDJ’s. Having recently switched his music focus to more production-oriented duties, few would bet against Johnson translating his well-honed Dj’ing skills in to the studio. One to watch out for – at home and abroad.
