My short story "What Billie and Phyllis Sang About" appears in the April 18 issue of the Atticus Review literary magazine online: http://AtticusReview.org/What-Billie-And-Phyllis-Sang-About/.  

The story details a Mississippian woman's arrival to the Big Apple, where her lover is supposed to await her but he never shows up. I wrote the story to pay homage to my old neighborhood of Harlem as well as the music of two of my favorite songstresses. I hope you enjoy just some of what they sang about, and how they sang it.
