Japan Earthquake 2011: 8.9 Magnitude Earthquake Hits, 30-Foot Tsunami Triggered

TOKYO  A ferocious tsunami spawned by one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded slammed Japan's eastern coast Friday, killing hundreds of people as it swept away boats, cars and homes while widespread fires burned out of control.

Hours later, the tsunami hit Hawaii and warnings blanketed the Pacific, putting areas on alert as far away as South America, Canada, Alaska and the entire U.S. West Coast. In Japan, the area around a nuclear power plant in the northeast was evacuated after the reactor's cooling system failed.

Reuters reports: The risk of radiation contamination from Japan's damaged nuclear power stations has sparked food bans across the globe and more surprisingly, a buying frenzy from South Korean mothers who fear their favorite Japanese-made diapers may suddenly become unavailable.

Josh is also involved with several bands as both a performer and a producer (Exploding Flowers, Vagrant Winter, Fun Time Objects, Cellborg) and has guest lectured/panel-participated at American Film Institute, Berklee College of Music, Royal Northern College of Music, Sarah Lawrence College, UC Irvine, Cal Poly Pomona and LA College of Music College. His iconic music for the Crash Bandicoot video games was performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at London’s Royal Albert Hall in 2018 and music from both the Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter games was performed by the Manchester Video Game Orchestra in 2022.
