""A love letter to the warm up set""
This mix is dedicated to the warm up set, it's a set that many djs did for years had to prove themselves as the warm up dj and eventually move up the ranks to a closing set and finally one day the peak slot. If you were / are lucky enough to be a resident dj you know what i'm talking about . It really educated me on being a dj and forced me to learn so many styles of music. It also taught me about "edging" , yes edging. How to bring it up and bring it down and trusting a crowd would follow the ride and take a few wrong or right swift left turns....  because let's be honest if you don't clear the dance floor every now then ya not doing it right. haha This set was recorded in Naarm, 28/9/23 at Subclub and it was a pleasure to start the night , it brought many memories of always being the warm up dj  , Boney days ,  how much I love it and how the art of the warm up set is sometimes lost in the modern day clubbing. It will always be the most important set of the night because it sets the tone for the rest of the night and you get to really play some amazing music and watch the night unfold right in front of you. Here's to the pure ecstasy of watching people dance to slow jams.

Hailing from the Pacific Northwest and now based in Brooklyn, the promoter and resident of Portland’s Switch Dance Party, Will Jack, has been hard at work establishing themself in the queer dance scene. Will Jack has spent the last couple of years behind the scenes of DIY parties as a producer and floor manager all the while promoting nights of their own, studying the craft and honing their skills and philosophy of the rave. As a DJ, Will Jack plays for the time and space delivering multidimensional techno sets as consistently as they do a hot and cruisy house groove. Seen behind the decks in places such as Portland’s Holocene, NY’s Bossa Nova Civic Club, the Chernobyl Warehouse, as well as Brooklyn’s UNTER party and San Francisco’s STANK, Will Jack is a force to keep an eye on with a story to be told.

Being raw and pure is core to my artistic style, so while I strive for quality and perfection, there are moments when I’m imperfect and work to do better. I’m a believer that the moment is always as intended, and while it’s riddled with suffering, it’s when I go against the grain of that suffering that I experience my most meaningful moments of growth. Being a human is messy and hard and because of that, many of us forget how lucky we are. Too many of us are literally fighting to survive. So with this mix, with the holidays, with the violence in Gaza, I hope to share some light, some groove, some horniness, some imperfection, some compassion and an opportunity to do better. This Deee-Lite jam has always been, for me, a career highlight by one of my fave bands of all time. While a mind-bending remix of the non-single was made available on a mid-90s compilation, I'd forever wanted an uptempo version that retained the structure, lyrics, and groove of the original. A few decades later, I finally recreated it myself. I do hope you enjoy.
