Pablo Zorrilla aka Comfort Music is a Madrid-based selector and radio host on Radio Relativa. Growing up as a kid in the 80s, he was exposed to the lure and shine of that golden decade of pop music and its mythology of legends and larger-than-life characters. It was love at first sight. From then on, it has been a never-ending search for the perfect melody, first among his father’s record collection, which took him from the 60s through rock, folk, pop, and jazz up to punk and new wave.

Then, as a young teenager, he spent all his pocket money in record stores around Madrid - on records, of course, but also on magazines, films, and books - embracing “recorded” culture and its physicality, as he still does today. He continues to play vinyl and enjoys the journey of digging, selection, and the deep stories a record can carry from owner to owner, generation after generation.

Since 2022, he has hosted Comfort Music, a monthly show on Radio Relativa broadcasting from Madrid - a residency that has fulfilled his calling as a selector and radio host. The show aims to present music that brings comfort to our busy modern lives, focusing more on mood than on any particular style or artist. His selections span genres and eras, blending personal picks with rediscovered popular favourites, guided by pure love for music: pop in all its forms, jazz, folk, ambient, soundtracks, synth, soul, house… all in, if you can feel it - in true balearic spirit.

Three of his mixes have been showcased on NTS Supporter Radio, and a Comfort Music show was broadcast live from Kiosk Radio in Brussels as part of Radio Relativa’s takeover for Europalia & Listen Festival this past November.

Grooves are fascinating musical molecules that can transport highly complex information and pack staggering amounts of energy. It is absorbed mainly through our ears but it acts all over our bodies, processed by our brains and translated into movement, within and without our hearts. As such, their quintessential properties are rhythmic and can vary according to many factors, from the elements they comprise to the specific purposes they fulfill, yet their most basic function remains the same: to make us dance, a bodily manifestation of their effects that is undeniable proof of their effectiveness as the products of rather singular ancestral technologies. Used in manifold ways since times immemorial, they later became a central part of an applied science developed in Afrodiasporic communities of large urban areas throughout the American continent and deployed all over the world as the lingua franca of the dancefloor. A universal language in which Pivoman is deeply proficient and that he commands in this mix to tell an enthralling tale of transatlantic exchanges that lie, for better or worse, at the core of our identity as residents of this brave New World.

You can hear the full weight of their 30-plus years in dance culture woven into every transition, deep electronic textures melting effortlessly into warm, soulful grooves. 

That Scotland-born, Berlin-shaped sensibility shines through loud and clear, capturing the spirit of those formative nights at places like Panorama Bar, Berghain, and all the underground corners that helped refine their sound.

What blows me away most is how naturally they move across genres, just like they always have. Hip hop foundations, acid house edges, Detroit pulse, Chicago swing, soulful uplifts, none of that single-genre nonsense.

Frag Maddin has released EPs and remixes on some of the most respected labels in contemporary house and techno, including DVS1’s Mistress Recordings, Kerri Chandler’s Madhouse Records, 2000 and One’s Area Remote, George Morel’s Groove On, Waze & Odyssey’s W&O Street Tracks, Kevin McKay’s Glasgow Underground and Riva Starr’s Snatch! Records, among many others. His productions are characterised by a deep respect for the genre’s roots, combined with a modern, emotionally nuanced and often hypnotic approach to rhythm and groove.

For Frag Maddin, true art does not exist solely in the finished piece. It is born in the fleeting, almost intangible moment in which the artist becomes fully surrendered to a creative impulse - a state that draws him back to his personal Nullpunkt. In this space, ideas flow freely, where intuition and emotion merge and thought dissolves into instinct. It is here that the authentic essence of creation emerges: unfiltered, honest and raw.

When the artist succeeds in holding onto this Nullpunkt as a point of reference throughout the creative process, the final work transforms into something more than a track or a tool for the dance floor. It becomes a homage to that moment of pure presence - a sonic imprint of a state of being. This philosophy is at the heart of Frag Maddin’s artistic identity and flows through every release, every performance and every moment spent behind the machines.

Hey everyone...I make music because I love music and how it makes me feel. It's as simple as that. The music I create has to have feeling, and more often than not what I call 'the feeling' — that feeling that you get when the hair on the back of your neck stands up and demands your attention.

I'm heavily influenced by design and patterns. Reggae riddims are like mathematical formulas for me — the ultimate patterns waiting to be discovered. This notion of patterns can translate to any music...if you can make something with 3 or 4 elements that can capture an audience yet still be relevant generations later, you've done something amazing. 

Not all of my tracks follow that formula but I try to let the sounds and elements speak for themselves in any track.
