A live set from DJ Garth at the infamous SF Come-Unity party in 1994 along with Simon and Jeno. The Come-Unity party was a monthly mid-week party in San Francisco that started in 90's. It was initially on every 1st Tuesday of the month  and then moved to every 1st Wednesday of the month in 1993. The event was a major influence that helped shape the underground house and techno scene in San Francisco that we have known to love today. I would describe it as a grown up rave with around 1000+ in attendance with DJs that played forward thinking creative dance music (nothing commercial). The first time I went to a Come-Unity party (around 1999 at 1015 Folsom) I was blown away. I am happy to share this mix of SF dance music history with you. Enjoy!

Christian Prommer isn't the average DJ, and is far from expectable in what he creates in the studio or onstage. He has always taken a jazz approach to music: open-minded, progressive, chic and atmospheric. The Munich-based DJ, percussionist and producer already experimented with samplers and drum machines in the late 1980s. Trained by virtuoso piano players and master drummers, he has spent the last 20 years moving between organic and electronic, between techno modernism and Blue Note cool.

After a decade-long love affair with studio technology, the 'Drumlesson' albums have helped Christian Prommer find the ideal balance between playing and programming, electronic and organic. They have also brought him back to his first love: the drums.

Here's a 5+ hour set from a beautiful night in Vancouver with the Soul Hop crew.  The soundsystem at Vantek was singing, the crowd were getting down and it was one of those nights where 5 hours felt like 1 hour. Hey everyone...I make music because I love music and how it makes me feel. It's as simple as that. The music I create has to have feeling, and more often than not what I call 'the feeling' — that feeling that you get when the hair on the back of your neck stands up and demands your attention.

I'm heavily influenced by design and patterns. Reggae riddims are like mathematical formulas for me — the ultimate patterns waiting to be discovered. This notion of patterns can translate to any music...if you can make something with 3 or 4 elements that can capture an audience yet still be relevant generations later, you've done something amazing. 

Not all of my tracks follow that formula but I try to let the sounds and elements speak for themselves in any track.
