An artist with a rich production pedigree to his name, Traumhouse, returns to Particles with a new twin-track EP and "The Way It Is".

Able to point to a century of production credits over almost a decade, Hannover-based Traumhouse has found himself a regular on the likes of celebrated labels, Amulanga, Bekool Records and Songuara Tales. "Avem" found its way onto Proton Music in mid-2020, in collaboration with fellow countrymen, LADS, while a remix of Dmitry Molosh by the pair towards the end of the year was another notable highlight. A single remix graced Particles in early 2021 as LADS & Traumhouse reworked Li-Polymer's "Jacaranda" as the German artist now returns for a solo outing and "The Way It Is".

A delicate and emotive symphonic opening characterises the title track before a sumptuous beat and rich percussive top-line add groove aplenty. Evolving easily over its 8-minute duration, complementary melodies weave in and out of each other in warm, feel-good vibes before a powerful female vocal enters the fray at the mid-point. Carrying a poignant message, the phrasing adds depth and emotion before the stringed instrumentation of the opening section makes a return in the second half. The result is an exceptionally-well produced and complex melodic arrangement.

Partner track "You", provides the same rich melodic and vocal narrative as a rich rhythmic pattern and deep kick creates a beautifully imagined soundscape for the vocal to flourish. Carrying themes of romance, love and spiritual connection, Traumhouse produces a swathe of delicate melodic patterns, not least with a beautiful piano sequence at the breakdown that encompasses reverse-reverb samples and a hugely impressive set of production techniques that evoke feelings of bliss and contentment.

A single remix comes courtesy of Brazilian star, RIGOONI. A trio of remixes from 2022-23 saw the Brazilian shine on Proton Music as he reworked the likes of Savvas, Dabeat and progressive superstars, Trilucid, while a reworking of Rayomand's "Running Away" in August 2021 marked a single appearance on Particles. Now returning, the RIGOONI remix keeps the vocal so prominent in "The Way It Is" and wraps it in a new rhythmic envelope that bristles with dynamic energy and chest-thumping beat. A huge sub-bassline adds to the sonic depth while familiar melodic patterns can be heard through the string section. New melodic motifs make their presence felt as RIGOONI's additional production sits immaculately alongside Traumhouse's components. The result is a magical interpretation that explodes into a rhythmic powerhouse in the final movement with pitched toms and glissando lead.
